    I’m Switching Teams

For RC, it takes ca 3 cups per five gallons to get to 1.026. Maybe it is all the clay fillers and vitamins! And I can assure you that the refractometer is properly calibrated. Thanks for the heads-up on strontium and iodine.

    I’m Switching Teams

Picked up my 300 pounds of salt today. Thanks again to AO and James (and Darren for agreeing to my little outlandish, harebrained request.) These 300 pounds are two boxes of RC and three boxes of IO. I’m going to slowly switch to IO. I change 15 gallons a week, which takes a...

    Sunny's FOWLR build thread ....

Sunny, I thought I’d post this up here in case anyone wanted to chime in with comments. The plan it to add two support columns (jack posts) to triple beams that will span two wood I-beam joists. The new tank will be just above, parallel to the joists. Now I checked out the posts at HD and...

    Jebo WP-40!! Wow!

So I have three MP40’s …….. $465 X 3 = $1395. So I could have purchased three of these for $255 and saved $1140! Damn I’m a fool. And they do look like Tunze’s.

    What's The Least Favorite Fish

Ditto Blue Velvet Damn-sel. That beautiful fish killed two of the fish I had and was eventually put into the witness protection program in an aggressive fish tank (to remain unnamed.) Brian, hows that fish doing......kill anyone lately?

    What is this?

What’s behind those tentacles? Could it be a tube worm / feather duster?

    What is this?

Looks like aptasia to me. PART 2: getting rid of them. A pretty good non-chemical way is to fill a coffee cup with RO/DI.....nuke it to a boil.....use a turkey baster or good size syringe (10ml) to "cook" the little basta$%!ds.

    Sunny's FOWLR build thread ....

Sunny, I could meet you at AO and then drive back to your house. I’m not going to go to your place just to turn around and almost pass my house on the way back to AO. So I’ll see you at AO tomorrow around 5…..if anything changes, let me know. I will then drive back to your house and...

    I’m Switching Teams

I’ve reached the end of the rope……I’m switching teams. Since the inception I’ve been a Reef Crystal user. I came to believe that your choice of salt was like your choice of spaghetti sauce….whatever you were brought up on is what you liked. Well I guess that is not true, because I’ve had...

Woke up to a full sump...

What kind of pump are you currently running? Did you take it apart and figure out why it crapped out? It might just need a cleaning or a snail might have clogged it up. I know the first time I cleaned my return (MAG 9.5), I was shocked that it was still running. The magnet and impeller...

    ReekKeeper Temperature Probes

I’m just scratching my head on these glass frit probes. I’ve got to believe these go bad……and then what happens to the temperature in your tank when they crap out? In my miniscule brain the “herpetology” temperature probes appear to be more stable, submersible, and lasting for ever.

    ReekKeeper Temperature Probes

I erred….I though the current temperature probes I have had silvery metal ends…..they don’t. They look just like the picture above…..plastic coated probes. So I’ve been using their “herpetology” temperature probe, fully submerged, for over five years! For those using ReefKeepers (2’s...
