Paul, I work for a General Contractor, so I know what you mean when you talk about Engineer's being incompetent. We bid jobs based on drawings and specs they provide, and 99 times out of 100 I'll find myself shaking...
I agree with Mike (Mnat) too. When in doubt, quarrantine. If you could get pics, that would help us help you better.

Yea, they will be expensive. You will also need a lot of fixtures to cover your tank. with so few bulbs per pod... the coverage area must be very limited.
Besides that, I'm sure your fish aren't into disco anyway. :welcoming:
Just about any gel type super glue works... but I don't like the bottle types with the blue squeeze grips. The glue itself is fine and the grips help control the flow great... but they just don't hold a lot of glue in them. I like the IC Gel also because the tube lasts longer than the Loctite...
Ack, that doesn't sound good. I was hoping that this group was one that had a bit more knowledge and experience in the hobby than ATM.
They're probably just talented fabricators of acrylic tanks and "props" (for lack of a better word) and not very good at knowing what's important for an...

You might want to try putting him in a QT tank for a couple weeks and use an antibacterial medication like Melafix. It will help some of the tissue to grow back.
