Just wanted to tag on there that Trop just got a few Sohal in and they looked amazing. Very healthy and the largest was like 4-5 inches. I have never seen Sohals that small and they were pretty amazing. Apparently getting shipments from the Red Sea is getting very difficult (they also had some...
We just popped a mushroom off a piece of liverock because it was stinging things around it. We pulled it off with tweezers, and it was not happy at all. My wife (who did it) got a nice little burn on her finger form where is spit on her.
You don't have to worry as much, but it is always a good idea to light acclimate. You don't know the PAR ratings of the tank they are coming from and what your tank is. The only time I really don't light acclimate is in our 20g which has T5s if the coral is coming from an MH system. But even...
So I finally made it up to Trop and talked to them about how they recieve/ship large SPS colonies attatched to live rock. He said the best way would be to cut the colony off of the live rock and float it that way and reattach the colonies later on. Pros: Easier to move, you can setup your LR in...
Running a light cycle is up to the person. Some people like to run it as night because they don't have to worry about temperature as much (night=cooler). Most people at least want to have the lights on while they are home to see the tank they are depositing their paychecks into. The PC bulbs are...
I have never used a Tunze, but I fall into the Vortech camp as well. I had two Koralias in my tank and they took up so much room, with the votechs you have much more space. When we upgrade, I will not buy other pumps, just the Vortechs. (We are running the mp10 and the mp20 right now)

A cucumber will not eat your hair algae. They are good for stirring up the sand bed and fighting cyano but you don't have cyano. They are nice, but will not affect your algae problem at all.
For standard hair algae, pull the rock and scrub it. I have dealt with hair algae in my 12 gallon on and off for a while. As far as inverts go not too many will go after hair algae. As JRWOHLER said a sea hare will plow through your hair algae in a few day and then will starve to death. If you...
Might want to pick up some selcon food additive if they are know for HLLE, supposed to help. Brightwells amino says it helps with HLLE but have not heard that in actual reviews like the selcon. Both are pretty cheap and might be worth it for such a beautiful fish.
The show is actually quite misleading on who winds up in front of the judges. I have had a friend go through it and I have had a friend who worked for the show (production assistant). Essentially they show you the big stadium scenes where you go and sing in front of people from the show (not the...
Nassararius and cerith essentially live in the sand so they do a very good job of turning the sand bed (same with a conch). Trochus and chestnuts stay on the glass and rocks. Have you identified what type of algae it is or if it is cyano? That will also make a difference on what will take care...
I don't mean to scare you but I just lost a colony and almost lost a seond one to somthing like this. It starts to bleach at the base, even though the tips stay fully extended until that whole branch is bleached out and then it spreads. One colony we really did not like so we just threw it out...
Have you put a tv in front of them with nothing but politics on all day? That would annoy me to death (Would have gone the mother in law route, but my wife is a member here).
I will be stopping in Trop tonight, I will ask them what is the best way. They get all their shipments in big styrofoam coolers, will find out how they are packed. It looks like they just throw them away afterwards, because they can get like 30 of them at a time.
