The mandarin was on live copepods which we supplemented with live brine that we cultured. We also bought copepods to make sure we had enough in the tank. We also had him eating some of the rods reef food.

Well the dottyback will just have to be sold. We had the mandarin for over 5 months and we put more effort into making sure that fish did well due to their needs. At least we will be more prepared for the new one.

What were you thinking for fish? I think you will be fine without a skimmer. You could also look into a HOB refugium and put carbon and phosban in there and forego the skimmer.

We use PCs on the 12g and I keep mushrooms, zoos and some LPS in there. The 20g has T5s and we can keep almost anything in there depending on position. The mushrooms and zoos in there are doing very very well. MH on a tank that size would be overkill and you would have huge heat and evaporation...

We do 10% weekly on all of our tanks. The 30 g is a bit different because of the open top and evaporation we get so we are adding a gallon almost every other day of RO. You don't have as much room for error with a nano due to the small volume so weekly water changes are a very good thing.
