I am about to change my 250w bulb as well. It seems that the IceCap 14k is the most popular. Has anyone used the Geismann 12.5k or 14.5k? Those were the two bulbs I was looking at.
The fiancee neglected to mention that plenty of species are protected; if you try and ship them to the US or bring them in yourself, without a permit, you could end up being fined, or worse, if the species is protected abroad, in jail in your vacation destination. If the species you are...
Thanks Diverrk. I was asking because I have a very, very small piece of rock, about 1" x1" with seven watermelon mushrooms on it. A few of the watermelon mushrooms that were on the rock (at one point it had 9) detached themselves and re-attached to other piece of live rock in my tank, but I have...
Nobody like a naysayer, but I think you should wait. I have stressed fish moving a 10 gallon, I could never imagine moving a 210g. Unless you can get 20 of your fellow reefers responsible for just moving 11g a piece I think you could do it. ;)
We started the brine culture for our mandarin but really don't feed it to all the fish, and once the mandarin is on frozen or we have enough pods we will probably retire the culture. We have reef nutrition phyto for our clam and we also use their artic pods which are nice. We have also used...
We don't feed the brine anything and feed them to the fish when they are small. Brine shrimp are like popcorn, fish love to eat it but they have almost no nutrional value. When they are smaller, they will have more nutrional value, so that is the best time to use them as food. We also add...
I know this is a very old thread, how are the mushrooms doing now? I have some I would like to remove from their current rock, but I don't want to kill them.
thanks.
I have had a teenie (.5 inch) fighting conch in my 20g for about 3 months, and he is doing very well. I also have the 1" fighting conch my fiancee had in the 12g before we set up the 30g in the 30; we used a live sand bed and let the tank cycle for about a month to allow algae to build up for...
We have not tried to raise the larvae ourselves becuase while pepermint shrimp are considered by some to be relatively easy to raise, cleaner shrimp larvae are not so simple. they need to be fed rotifers and newly hatched brine shrimp intially from what I've read, which both need to be fed...
My fiancee and I have talked about this before. You have to check with the country for their import/export provisions. Some countries won't let you send livestock out of the country. If they do, you probably have to look into a permit of some sort to even collect the livestock. Shipping is...
We are currently running a live brine fish culture as we speak. We went to petsmart and bought a 1 gallon tank with an airstone for 15 bucks. We bought the brine shrimp eggs at Tropiquarium. You basically add saltwater and the eggs and wait a few days. Also, a very fine net helps with adding...
I had a little bugger who took pieces from my frogspawn. I have one sitting in the old time out if you really want another. I have found when you have two they will molt and get big very quickly. If you have a big enough system you should be fine, I have one in time out right now if you want him...
We just waited when we fed the whole tank and they come out eventually, then you reach in and grab the little bugger. We had several emerald crabs in our tanks and decided they were not worth the hassle.
The clam has been doing great, he moved around a bit but has fully attatched to an empty scallop shell. The hermit crabs use him as a jungle gym which annoys it every now and again, but he is open and looks great.
I'm the finacee previously mentioned in this thread, I started converted my 20G which has been running for four years from FOWLER to (baby) reef in November. I keep VERY simple corals, you can look at my transition on the "Her 20g" thread on the Nano forum.
I upgraded my lights to 4 25w T5s...
