Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Now that we've moved over to the new site, there are a few things that everyone should change in their user control panel settings. I helped test the new board before it went live and the following are a few things I think everyone should change to make things better for you (it may be helpful...
That's a tough call. That's like letting it sit in unfiltered tap water over night. There's no telling what kind of minerals the rock absorbed from the rain.
I'd suggest putting it in a bucket of new salt water with a power head for a day or two. Maybe even doing a water change on the second...
Well, this thread inspired me. I found a beautiful copperband at my LFS and he went in the QT tank on Friday. :D
I'd post a pic, but I forgot my camera at home today. It looks identical to Paul's in the first pic but mine is probably smaller in size.
Really sorry I couldn't make the meeting. The in-laws are about to move to South Carolina and they invited us for "the last supper". The hour and a half drive each way to the meeting would have prevented me from staying very long so I decided against it. I was really looking forward to seeing...
Welcome to the club Felicia, and a couple great photos too. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
And yes, Matt seems to be our go-to guy for sea horse info around here. ;) One of these days I'm going to put his advice to good use and get my horsey tank up and running.
LOL!
I use the exact same combo/setup as Thermosts. I like it... but wish I had a 6-bulb fixture. More than likely, I'll upgrade to LED's before going to a 6-bulb though.
Really, really sorry to hear about the losses Nikki. Put on a side note, the tank looks really great! Hoping I can make it to the meeting to see these in person.
Yea, if you're looking to go to LED's, I'd hold off on the HM bulbs too. No sense in spending the money for a few months worth of use. You should be ok with what you have until you go to LED's.
Pulling the zoa off the rock won't really damage it any worse than it is now. The alternative is...
I was planning on adding a copper band as my next fish. I haven't seen one at my LFS recently though, but I haven't been looking that hard either. I'm probably going to stop in tonight... hope I can find one.
PS, great pics Paul and good luck with the new fish.
I wish it was that easy. They seem to have a few different projects going on throughout the show. Some end in the middle, some in towards the end, and then the last at the very end. I guess I could just fast forward throught the first half at least.
That would make it easier for me to watch...
Yea, I realize that they need that to draw in people to watch. I just think it detracts from the important part of the show... the meat and potatoes of how they build/create/repair the tanks in the show. That's what I'm interested in seeing.
I guess I'll have to live with it just to see the few...
Yea, adding too much salt can do that, although even with adding the proper amount, I've had the same brown scaling issue with IO Reef Crystals.
As far as your RO/DI overflow issues, Something like this is your best bet. It shuts off both waste and clean water lines at once. There's a nice...
Dave, that zoa does look pretty stressed. It looks like there is some hair algae growing all over it too. Any way you can suck or blow it off with a turkey baster? That might help it. A quick dip in Coral RX or similar coral dip might help also.
My clowns didn't tear up any fins while digging...
