Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Well, I have a "tale of the tank" build I started Here. But it needs to be updated because I recently acquired a bunch of corals that make it look like more of a "real" reef tank.
I'll add a couple recent pics to give you an idea of what it looks like now:
Full tank shot (from the back)...
Tank still looks great!
PS, the chaeto you gave me the beginning of the summer is now about 4" thick x 12" long x 14" high. It's in my sump and I keep it standing up along the baffle wall in my sump. Any water that goes through my sump has to pass through it, so it's been doing a great job...
Just asking the obvious, just in case... Did you put the gasket on the inside the tank (wet side) ?
What kind of connection do you have from the white PVC to the bulkhead? Where is the water leaking? From around the bulkhead (at the glass) or from inside the bulkhead, along the white pvc?
By...
Yea, post a pic of your tank with the walls and ceiling shown if possible.
I'm thinking some kind of wall shelf might work, but need to see what we are working with here.
Awesome! Glad to hear it's a good thing and not a bad thing.
After some research, I think it might be a Syconoid sponge, although I haven't seen many pics that look like mine.
Yea, sorry my camera sucks. :'(
Glad it doesn't sound threatening. I'll do some research on sponges and see if I can find more info.
Thanks for the reply magic.
Not sure if this is an actual "Emergency" because I have no idea what this thing is. But didn't really know where else to ask for an ID for this...
It looks like a bunch of gray arms growing out of my rock, and the "hands" appear to be latching onto the rock. One arm is sort of floating, but...
Never mind. I just researched that thing myself. Very nice piece of equipment, but man those are expensive!
I'm sure in the long run it will even out, but that will make a big dent in your wallet. I guess the 12" is reasonable at around $700, but I'd need a 48" which is around $2,500.00! No...
NAC6 -
Dimensions: 6.7" x 10.4" x 19.6" (L*W*H)
NAC7 -
Dimensions: 9.2" x 8.5" x 19.6" (L*W*H)
Smaller footprint is true on length, but it's actually larger on width. Also, even though the NAC7 is cone shaped, the top part (collection cup) looks to be about the same size for both. At first, I...
Ahh, so you are getting the skimmer from Ebay? I figured as much, but was just wondering if there was another source in the US. I'm not necessarily in the market for one at the moment, but if I ever replace my EV-120 I might consider one of these.
I understand your your concern with the...
It looks like BRS is out of stock on those dual reactors. However, TB Aquatics sells the Smart Reef version of it for pretty much the same price.
PS, I love the new mini-manifold. Man, your plumbing setup just keeps getting better and better Richie. What else could you possibly add? LOL
Glad you got the skimmer figured out too. Where are you buying it and how much are you spending on the NAC7 ?
Whatever you decide with the lighting, just try to plan ahead. It's better to buy the best you can initially (IMO) rather than going cheap and then paying even more when you decide you...
Well, as you can see in that last pic above, it takes a lot of junk out of the water! It is a lil touchy some times and I've had times where I had too much air pumping in and it filled up a 5-gal bucket while I was out of the house. :'(
It took some time to get used to how it works and you just...
Looks like it will be a sweet setup! Is that blue tape (or whatever that is) staying on it? It looks pretty cool to me, but in one shot it looks like it's just a protective tape used during shipping.
Also, how deep is your sand? Did you put egg crate down first? If your sandbed is an inch or...
Have to agree with everyone here. There is no way to seal a crack that big on a side wall, especially with a 180. Way too much pressure.
Replacing the wall won't be worth your time or money unless you have a friend who own's a glass shop, lol.
What size is the tank by the way? I actually...
Well, I'm sorry to report that "Herman" will never grow back his fins. He passed away before I even got home last night. :'( :'(
I knew he looked like he was in bad shape which is why I started this thread. The clown doesn't seem to be affected much by his fin loss, so not too worried about...
