Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
A 20 x 12 x 8 is only an 8 gallon sump...that's a bit too small for my tastes. I'd like to see something in the 20 - 30 gallon range. If you're handy, build your own using a used tank that you could pick up cheap.
Candi, can’t help you with detail. Onefish handles all that. I will point you in the direction of a neat little calculator that figures out the amount of Ca, Alk or Mg you need to add to your tank, specific to the brand you are using. Here it is… hope it helps a little...
Does anyone have knowledge of using a SCWD (Switching Current Water Director)? Thinking about putting a closed loop on the next build and including this to make switching currents. Want to know what people who have used one think about them. The best part for me is that it doesn’t require...
It sounds like a neat idea. However, I think you are going to have a difficult time balancing the two pumps. Slight change in either pump is going to be a problem. A little something gets on an impeller, flood.
KH is Alkalinity.
Your first number is meq/l (milliequivalents per liter) while your second one is the German equivalence (Degree Karbonate Hardness). To convert meq/l to KH (or dKH), multiply meq by 2.8. I dont know why you reported it as ppm??
I think most like to see their dKH between 7...
The Festivus pole is up and the meal is done. You do know what time it is Hawkeye…”Feats of Strength.” I’m assuming you are the head of household…time to wrestle until you are pinned.
Happy Festivus everyone!
The other consideration is to mix your salt up before taking it out of the bucket (or bag), to make your water. Your salt contains different minerals that could settle. What I do is put the bucket on its side and roll it back and forth a whole bunch of times before I take anything out. Also...
One question….I know it’s Chanukah where the celebration of one day’s worth of oil lasted eight days. But how does live rock from a 15 gallon tank that is transferred to a 72 gallon tank leave you with “tons of live rock to spare.” It’s a miracle! :o
One correction to your question....it's tankS, with a big "S".
Here's the breakdown of tanks.
Second floor bedroom 1: Ten gallon plant tank (grow tank for freshwater plants)
Second floor bedroom 2: 55 gallon red eared slider turtle tank
Second floor hallway: 40 gallon goldfish tank
First...
