Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
No! Anyone can post pictures. However, there is a procedure that must be followed. It is not simply copy and paste. Here’s the scoop on posting pictures:

Just make it.
The end cap and maybe the short piece of pipe at the top, wrap a couple of times with Teflon and push the two pieces together. This way you can disassemble easily for cleaning.
In addition, it was discussed in the text above, but not shown in the picture inside the tank use a...
I agree with the other two responses…fish trap. You may buy, borrow or make one. Search DIY fish trap and see what you get. I even think I remember one made from a used soda bottle…pretty simple.
In regard to your sump/refugium….for one, if you have the room below, no problem switching it out...
A little info here:

Each of the three discussed here as well:

My first thought is temperature. Could you have a heater that’s on the way out and maybe caused a spike in temp? The reason I say this is that I lost a whole tank to a malfunctioning heater…about 100 fish (albeit freshwater).
In regard to something in the air….some “odors” readily dissolve in...
I agree with Dave. If your interests right now are FOWLR, just buy a HD fixture. I have a couple of these on freshwater tanks. You can do this for under 20 clams. If future interests are for corals, no big loss…and you have saved on bulb costs and electrical consumption…it pays for itself!
If you have both heat and humidity issues, just throw in a vent…a bathroom or kitchen type vent with a fan. Will suck both problems right out.
Or you can do what Ed did, buy this:

But it only handles the humidity.
I don’t have the heat problem…I have...
I believe the tank that was discussed here, the plywood was used as a support for the plexiglass (acrylic). No water touched the plywood. In effect, the plywood box was built and then lined with the plexiglass.
However, I do know of people who use plywood for the back, sides and bottom of...
Ed, we’re only problems if you take away our tanks,,,than we become real dangerous. The therapeutic abilities of a tank full of fish (and coral) far outweigh the abilities of a naugahyde couch belonging to some psycho-babblist. You sit down in front of your baby and all your troubles melt away...
DON’T DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR TANK YET!
Something just hit me…..ouch! My brain started to work. The number Jon originally supplied might be right….that is, if it is actually a refractometer that is giving him the “refractive index,” not the “specific gravity.” The ones most of us buy are actually...
We use a Tupperware (or is it rubbermaid?), with a powerhead to mix the saltwater. You want to do this at least 24 hours before you use it to allow all the stuff to dissolve. You also want to mix your salt before taking it out of the container. The small stuff settles to the bottom. We buy...
Re: Salinity way to high
Jon, the skeptic I am, why are you blaming the hydrometer? Has the refractometer been calibrated? It would be nice if you could verify which one is giving you the bogus number by testing someone else’s tank or using their refractometer to see which one is correct...
To start by answering the question; I have been told, by people who know you, that you’re terribly confused. ;D
Now as far as your alk and ph…what’s the problem? Assuming the 4.23 is meq/l, everything looks just fine. Now I’m confused. ???
