Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
If I understand your question, you wish to move a full tank. With saltwater at a weight of 8.556 lbs/gallon, assuming water only, 75 gallons equals 645 pounds, while 90 gallons equals 770 pounds. If you attempt to do this, please videotape, because I think there is a good chance it would make...
First, if it is tempered it can’t be cut. Tempered glass is first cut to size and than sent through the tempering process.
If it is not tempered, after the glass is cut (diamond glass cutter), all aquarium glass that I’ve seen, if not tempered, has been flame finished on the cut edge. That...
I say this with ignorance, because I don’t have a clam...not to mention that even if I did, I still don’t know much.
I read the link to cure clam pinch...dip in freshwater for thirty minutes. If you are not sure if you have this disease, wouldn’t it be a wise precaution to do the dip...
One of the items we picked up at the swap was a cucumber. Came home, acclimated the little guy, and threw him in the tank. Quickly went into the rocks and haven’t seen him since. Looked during the night - looked during the day – no sign. Is this normal or could he possibly have bitten the big...
The recommendation is to wait and only put anemones into mature tanks (at least 9-12 months). They are not the easiest thing to take care of.
Slow down. Get some rock and sand in your tank and let it cycle (at least a month). Buy a test kit. Learn how to use it. Read as much as you can. Once...
According to panman’s link, still have problems. I’ve been watching this link, and there have been changes, so I’m assuming it’s current (the time is posted). Some places still appear to be in deep do.
Does dad want to do a stand for me! I’m up for adoption. :o
Another thought…make a frame using dimensional lumber (2 x2 to whatever). This frame would fit the footprint of you stand. More specifically, the load dimensions of your stand. Now, cut whatever you need to cut off the bottom of this...
My thoughts:
1. Carpets underneath tanks will get wet. I have first hand knowledge of this…get a wet/dry vacuum and a small fan for the numerous times you will have to dry it out.
2. If it is wall-to-wall carpeting, be aware that there is a nailer strip close to the wall that could cause for...
If you are talking about mikem...who lives in Middletown; According to the map posted by pan, 5000 - 10000 outages in Middletown. If mike needs help, I'm about 20 minutes away...I'm available.
I'm just over the border in Middlesex County and I had the little brown-out / flicker on the computer...but stayed on...didn't crash. After a half hour or so, I checked on the tank and it kicked the lights off. Interestingly, the computer stayed on, but the lights went out. Must be a good one!
Too little information!
Lighting? Water parameters? Flow? Location within the tank? Neighbors?
I know they aren't crazy about MH up close and personnal...too much light.
Pretty neat idea…it looks like you’re using a NPT coupling to a NPT Tee to act as your bulkhead. Realize you are dealing with two seals. The seal of the “bulkhead” against the glass…using that rubber washer…and also the seal of the threads within the tee. I would wrap that coupling with a good...
First off Erna, our prayers are with you and your family.
I cannot stress this enough that the mom and dad, and maybe grandparents, need to join some support group. As a father, of a now 26 year old, who was born with a “little abnormality,” this was our saving grace. Hearing other people’s...
The only thing I can see in your picture is that worm in the bottom of the photo with bristles .thats a Bristle worm. They are considered a problem not so much when they are small. I definitely would NOT put that little bugger back in the tank.
I dont see any starfish in your photo. Im...
First, there is nothing that will drill a rectangular hole.
If you want a rectangle, two potential ways:
1. drill a pilot hole and then use a jig saw to cut out the rectangle
2. Make a template and then cut out the rectangle with a router.
If you want a round hole, a hole saw is what you...
Joe, just so you know, Im pretty sure the flex tubing you are talking about will not fit directly on the barbs coming off your bulkheads. If it is the flex I know of, it is made to glue-up in standard PVC fittings. When you go to connect it to your barb fittings on your bulkheads, Im pretty...
Joe, without question, slap a tee on the return line to the tank. Here’s a pic of the tee coming off a Mag 9.5 in our sump. What is not seen is that the tee’d off line goes to a valve. You can then use that valve to meter the rate of return of water to the tank. A definite must!
