If you watch the BRS video. The UPs didn’t work well.
If you have ecotech I would get their battery.
It will last a lot longer than UPs for about the same price. It will also lower you pumps to 50%
If you don’t have ecotech then I would look at the ice cap. It will work with gyre and a lot of...
It’s all a matter of budget.

Since it’s a new setup I just put some in the reactor to help the algae scrubber. But I don t need it. The algae scrubber was growing algae from day 1. I never had one so I didn’t know how efficient it is. I will be removing the GFO and just run carbon.

Actually you have to add fish when you add bacteria. It needs the fish poop to survive.
Corals don’t care about ammonia in the water. Fish will die if you have ammonia in the water. I have a seneye to test ammonia and I was at zero from day 1 adding bacteria. I also added snails I already owned...
Adding Bacteria in a bottle makes sense.
You are not adding “chemicals” It’s bacteria
So you are helping your tank cycle.
That bacteria will exist if you do nothing but it will take longer. If you introduce the bacteria then it will cycle your tank faster.
I have used DR Tim’s with great...
If you have rocks the pods will survive. You don’t need a refugium for pods.
look at the algae Turf scrubbers. They work well and don’t take up a lot of space
