mag takes a real long time to jump up. It took me about 2 weeks to get it where I wanted. your levels seem fine to me right now. Cal at 410 is no problem. In fact that is real good. I cant remember where I saw it but there was a article that stated SPS growth was the same at a Cal level at 360...
Greg,
I have used it before at Oceanarium with moderate success. try it but you need to make sure you get the bastard to suck it down. I really think the turkey baster has to wide of an opening.
ive never seen an aptasia that can take down a fish. I would put money on the carpet anemone. they are well known fish eaters and are amongst the most stickiest anemones in the ocean. Greg, Try some super buffer DKH or the epoxy as mentioned. If you can get your hands on the pickling lime it is...
i bet you are using instant ocean salt? ;D Your Cal is always going to be around 1/3 of your magnesium. So if your mag is 1200 you should be able to keep your calcium stable at around 400. Anything higher will just precipitate out. Get your Mag up but do it slowly, then get your calcium and alk...
the first thing I do when curing rock is to scrape off all the sponges. Once they hit air they all die anyways so there is no point to let them fould up your water. After that I do 100% water changes every week until ammonia and nitrite stay at 0.
have you checked your mag levels? If they are low keeping your cal at around 400 will be very hard to do. The mag holds the cal in solution and prevents it from precipitating out of the water. I would make sure your mag is between 1300 - 1400 first.
i never quite understand why they would only give you 1 inch drains? If they went to 1 1/2 inch drains and 3/4 or 1 inch returns that would make life a lot easier.
ive only seen this thing once every few years. no body knows the name. it is only called a yellow photsynthetic gorgonian, which some how I doubt. All I know it is the only thing that my butterflys will not eat. one took a little nip at one of the polyps and started to convulse for like 20...
Thanks for helping John..... Why do some state to use the reactor to raise and lower levels??? I am not sure why they would do this? Using the Reactor to raise Calcium can cause you to drip to fast which would put to much CO2 in your tank and lower your PH. I can understand to use it lower your...
atleast the temp staid constant at 79. I think the no flow and no lights caused some type of stress. my 2 yellow fiji leathers are real touchy for some reason. if a hermitt walks across them they usually shut down for a day. Both of them are so big. They are the center peices of my tank.
stupid power outage today and now my gigantic yellow fiji leather is pissed. so much for looking at perfect this weekend ;D now i am going to have to weait 3 days!
very possible. I would say it is either a dendro or a neodpongodes. The 2 are very similiar and hard to tell. Does the coral remain closed when they lights are out?
