Just wanted to see what kind of salt everyone is using. I just switched over to reef crystals from instant ocean. I was sick of the low mag, cal, and alk. i was also doing some research and the seachem salt looks pretty good. has anyone even seen the seachem salt being sold around here?
one of the customers who decided they didnt want it. we gave them a 100 credit instead and decided to set up the tank for a SPS display for ourselves. haha
hoesntly i would look for predation or some type of chemical reaction? are there still polyps on the bleached out part? What kind o ffish do you have? flame angel by any chance?
Greg,
That is what I have been using as the staple diet. Seems to be some type of taste aversion to the garlic. Found out from our good friend poconofishy at wetwebmedia this is one fo the hardest fish to keep in the aquarium. There main diet consists of feather duster and spaghetti worms.
Sorry,
Meant to post this here and not in the members section.
Just wanted to let you know tomorrow Oceanarium, located on Route 9 Marlboro (536-6626), will be having a 30% discount off of all live stock and dry goods for NJRC members and board members only. I will be there working tomorrow so...
Well I wish I could report some better news but it appears as if one of my butterfly's has stopped eating. Everything was good up until 2 days ago. I added some garlic and some selcon to the mussels I was feeding. Now One barely eats and the other won't even touch them. I wonder if I caused some...
iodine is a tough to test far. I am not sure where I got the article from but they can be highly inaccurate. If you dose Lugols you have the potential to wipe out your whole tank. That is some serious stuff. I only use Lugols when dipping corals. BI-Weekly water changes should keep your iodine...
I wouldnt dose anything expet 2 part additives if need be. Â The waxy look of the toadstool makes me think it is about to shed. Â Increase flow in the area and be patient. Â This may take a few weeks. Â I wanted to also throw out there that my yellow fiji leathers close up as well everytime I do...
I would definitly use the 1" on the return and then reduce it to 3/4. I did this on my tank and I believe I got more pressure comming out from my pump. Im not sure how the smaller piping will effect the drain but I wouldnt go any lower than the 1.25" You may end up hearing some crazy swooshing...
Phyl,
The full system is 75 gallons. I add 3 capfuls of kent super buffer and 1 1/2 capefuls of liquid calcium. Before this I was using seachem products but once they stopped working I though I would change buffers. Last time I checked the PH it was 8.1 in the morning 8.3 at night.
Phyl,
The whole tank is open. I will try to get the mag up but I also wonder if the dsb can cause higher CO2 levels? I do have alot of surface movement though a long with a fan in my sump. I'll try to raise the mag a bit and see if that helps at all.
Lately I have been having some huge issues trying to raise my alk and cal. No matter how much buffer or Calcium I add I cant get higher than 400 calcium 8 DKH. I am trying to get to 425-450 on the calcium and 10-11 DKH. My magnesium is at 1250. I do have a bunch of sps and LPS corals but never...
I actually work at the store on the weekend. Vlady is a great guy and runs a good business. He always seems to get the highest quality exotic fish and corals. I can definitly tell you he strives to make his prices cheaper than tropiquarium. As for the big tank being built that kind of got put on...
I think my perc may have ick, however it is very possible that it is only damage to the fin caused by my pseudochromis. It looks like it could be spots but i am not sure. None of my other fish are showing symptoms of ick. The only place the perc has these spots or fin blemishes are on the outer...
greg sounds like a plan. Im not sure about the diving because I have a pretty nasty cold going on but if you want I wouldnt mind using the net to see what we can get.
