i would lean more towards a nephtea or a neospongodes. the bushy appearance would lean me to thinking neospongodes. I meant to take a pic closed. ;D
take a look at these pics.

the first one is definitly a blue ridge coral. The second one is very hard to tell. Could be lemnalia. I think it looks more like a nephtea or a neospongodes. Can you take a picture with the sclerites open?
haha, yes actually do remember the conversation. my rule of thum regarding silicates is if you have brown algea on your sand you have silicates. The phosphate levels in the tap water around here are around .8. Never even bothered with the silicates cause I know they are sky high. Corals usually...
i know tropical fish are legal since they freeze in the winter. I would imagine that the Norther White Coral is off limits, as it should be. DEfintily better left in the ocean. I am not so sure about the snails and hermitts tho.
Greg,
I would defintily scratch the white coral. You would have better luck keeping scleronephtya or dendronephtya. BTW I met someone who dives in Shark River all the time and brought back a Juv Queen Angel. Also, The SPotfins are doing great and have quadrupled in size and eating every coral...
cmart,
the knoweledgable person there was me ;D I am only there on the weekends. it also appears they will be closing down the store due to insuffecient funds and only doing maintanence from now on. I do agree that the fish were sickly looking. It was defintily from the lack of care from the...
in my experience the hermitt crabs from new jersey chow down on corals. I have only tried a few but I wouldnt even bother. the sea horses from around here like colder water. during the summer months u can catch some tropical fish that make their way up from the carribbean.
if the fuge is a hang on it is better to put it on the main display rather than in the sump. you dont want any of the good critters getting chopped up in the return.
off the bat I think you could even go with the coralife superskimmer. It should run you about 130 bucks for the large one. It is a very good cheap skimmer. I would also incorpaorate a refugium either spereate or built into the sump. If you dont have experience with calcium reactors I would stay...
yea that would do it. I even think you could get away with 150's over a 75 gallon. The tank isnt very deep. you could even go with the tek light t5's with individual reflectors which would work to. where is your alkalinity at? My water levels looking strikingly similar to yours. Instant Ocean by...
i am in monmouth county. pretty far from you. First off your lighting really isnt suffecient to keep millepora. T5's are great bulbs but if you dont have individual reflectors on each bulb there really isnt much difference between VHO's and PC's. Are the corals browning out or bleaching out...
i do have a few years experience with SPS. I wouldnt call myself an expert but I think I can help you out. Right now are your millepora's under the T5 lighitng? If so what T5 lighting system do you have?
