It won't come out good. :) Anything over 0 TDS and you are feeding the algae. Even the best tap water is over 50. Mine is 200. RO/DI is the only way to go to avoid algae problems (even then, there are other things that can cause it)

I am on his mailing list. All in all he gives pretty good advice (although most of it is pretty basic). As asonitez said, he is getting more commercial and trying to make money (I guess I can't blame him). Another source for information and opinion if nothing else.

Thanks. I used mostly dead rock (1/2 Pukani from BRS and 1/2 Key Largo from Marco Rocks) and was able to play around with it before I put in the water. The right side of the tank was all the rock from the 29 gallon that I transferred. Here is a picture of the new stuff before the water.
