Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I certainly appreciate people taking the time to look at what animals/fish require protecting. But I wish these people would use the right resources and information to make an informed decision. A lot of the information cited are from articles etc from several years ago. Even the recent data...
you can certainly do this. I didn't try this with the tunze ato as the pump for the tunze sits at the bottom of the reservoir which would eventually gum up the pump if you have all the kalk settling in there. I am not familiar with the jbj ato so maybe that is not an issue.
not to shatter your expectations, but the LFS will just sell the star to whoever wants it, even if that person is going to feed the star to their shrimp, or stick it in a tank that hasn't cycled, who knows. if you insist on ensuring a home for it - you're better off trying to find someone with...
pro: relatively cheap way (vs getting two part) for maintaining ph/alk. )btw I wouldn't necessarily set up kalk for small nanos as you can just use 2 part fine. The ROI doesn't make sense.)
con: i have read about a few setups where the automated over-dosing of kalk causes a tank crash.

Marc was one of the first guys to talk up Macna and piqued my interest in it before we ever even hosted macna.
Just too many things going on this year and I'd like to save up my cash.
Should be fine. Now that i think about it I might have biospira from one of my macna good packs i never used. Does it expire? hmmm - i'll have to check. Where are you located?
and yes adding biospira is fine while the fish are in there, ideally it goes in before.
Because the anemones that are hosts for clownfish almost never replicate and clone like this, I gotta say this is some type of hitcher anemone that you really want to stop from replicating further. While it is not in the display yet (to your eyes) it may also have a foothold on LR in areas you...
I agree with paul - but the saving grace here is that at that size those two fish are not big producers of waste....YET.
Is there anything else in the tank? Don't use strips - they are old school test methods that were ok for a gut-check, but precise measuring they are not good for.
With new...
Besides breaking the LR down, the worst case scenario would be to add an octopus....:(
but try the below...not done it myself and only read this online...
1 - 6" pice of stocking (i use the toe end and measure out)
4 - toothpicks
1 pc - shrimp, mussel, fish or whatever bait you want to use...
what kind of corals are in the tank? zoos etc aren't big on requiring calcium. Do you have monitpora caps or sps and are they growing?
