Thanks Tom, unfortunately I can't move it any closer to the light, it's encrusted on large piece of rock... Maybe I'll have to frag it and try it in a different area...

Before this gets started... This can turn into a very heated discussion, can we please try and control ourselves while posting. I would like to see this thread left open to raise our awareness of events such as these. Things like this happen all the time and the more we can learn about...

All that's left is picking out a skimmer...

I'm sure the company will tell you not to do it. It would be in thier best interest for you NOT to do it. If they told you that you could, and then something happened, they would be to blame.

All that's left is picking out a skimmer...

Oops, I guess I read that wrong! I can't be sure if it would affect the integrity of the stand. I guess it depends on how it was made. People cut holes in the sides of thier stands, so I would *think* that cutting a hole in the bottom would be ok as well.

    Hippo Tang, not reef safe??????

I had a Yellow Tang do the same thing to me. ( I always assumed it was because I didn't like them, so it was the tangs revenge) I second the nori clip, give them something to graze on.

Attention: Show us your FTS (Full Tank Shot, in case you don't know the term)...

Unless it's too small, then resizing will only make it pixelated! :)

All that's left is picking out a skimmer...

I can't be sure about this, but I think if you had the skimmer lower it could possibly cause a back siphon if the power goes out and fill up the skimmer. I may be totally off, but that's the only issue I could see with it.

Great idea, I may have to try that out as well...I haven't been using filter socks, mainly because I couldn't figure out how to implement on into my system.

Why not get the kids involved!

How about a bunch of Cardinal Tetra's? They are really cool fish...they almost look like saltwater fish.

Why not get the kids involved!

Yeah, I've kept all kinds of fish with Bettas. There are some really nice platy's and swords. You should look into those.
