Looks like you found your problem. What are you dosing?

Your coral load and the type of corals is going to affect your Alk levels. Also some will get lost to filtration and other things. You need to test every day for at least a week probably two if you want to start dosing to make sure your levels are consistent.

How long has it been doing this? Ours did this after water changes and sometimes when it had to poop. If it goes on for a long time that is when i would get concerned. Also, water tests just to make sure everything is on the up and up.

Where did you put the monti? How much light are they getting? Red bugs don't touch montis so they are not the culprit if they look bad.

Spongedes is a low light coral, so two things are going to factor into it. Where is the coral in your tank? Intensity of the LEDS. Over your 27g they are a lot of power, I would start a little lower maybe around 35% and work your way up.
