Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Might want to check your alk. Your PH is in line but with the no water changes and then a big water change you might have just thrown it off. We found our pico to be very tough when it comes to keeping steady water params. Xenia can survive a nuclear holocaust but for some reason alk swings seem...
We all need to buy a housing complex so we don't have to travel all over. Great stuff, will have to figure out a way to get up there. Did I mention I am hosting the meeting in august? ;)
Kevin I moved this over hear because it sounds like you are ready to plan out and build your tank.
The price is good but just a few comments:
I would find out how old it is and what condition the tank and stand are in.
It the tank drilled or it is a HOB overflow that goes to the wet dry sump...
First off welcome!
I went through your exact situation over the last couple of years. I have been living in apartments for the past 3.5 almost 4 years and both on the second floor. We have moved a 20g, 30g, and a 12g last year and they were all full reefs. We are hopefully closing on a house...
I actually Pmed with bax but he is really far away from me and even his work location is over an hour for me. Unfortunately I don't have the time at this point to get up there nor do I want to demand he bring them down. Seeing what option were out there.
I know there is a thread out there, but not sure if it was lost in the great site crash of 11.
For the first time I can't do water changes essentially out of a 10 gallon garbage can that I have been using for the past couple of years as we are upgrading. Water changes will probably be 15-20...
You might want to check out plant growing websties instead of the marine ones. They have LEDs that are more in line with growing plants then coral. They might also be cheaper as they don't have the reef mark up. I have no experience with mangroves or plants and LEDs but I know they use a lower...
We have not used the freezer method, quickest most painless way (so we were told): 1. Take a shot of vodka 2. Fill a cup with Vodka, 3: put the fish in and cover. It will be quick. I know we did not use the oil first and there is a little thrashing, but trust me it is quick.
Without pics it is tough but is sounds like it could be two things, spinoid worm or vertemid snails.
