Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Steve, the stuff you squirt on the aptasia will dissipate quickly. If a fish starts to swim into the area, it will “detect” the bolus of base and quickly swim away. No different from you using any of the other commercial aptasia killers.
In regard to impact on your tank, unless you are treating...
I will tell you that with my 660, the plug unit was the problem. Lights weren’t working, so I put a “contact enhancer” (we call it red juice…it improves contact on metal connectors) and the lights worked. To really make sure I maintained good contact in the plug portion, I used an ice pick to...
Dave, just be aware that the RBTA will pick the place in your tank it wants to hang out. That might mean that it “walks” around stinging everything in its path. So pick a nice spot…..medium to low flow…lots of light….nice hole to plant its foot.
Congratulations guys! And to top it off, you’re holding a meeting within the first month of moving in. If I had done something similar when I moved, you’d be sitting on boxes.
Now with my baseball analogy to life, you guys are up to two strikes now. So be careful! ;D
LOL! Yea, Sid really loves celebrating the fourth of July.....brings back memories of when England “lost” the colonies.....in retrospect, with the economy the way it is, maybe that’s a good thing. ;D
Do your self a favor and leave the fireworks and load up on what sounds like fantastic deals...
If you're interested in Blueline, why not try THIS ONE at half the price. Comes with a few less whites/few more blues, AND comes from the same factory in China!
I like corn!
And I also like Bill’s response….it’s right-on….+1
I also wish the Iowa club the best of luck in hitting their numbers….I know we were right on the cusp in AC when we sponsored. Hopefully they don’t have some of the expenses we had.
Steve, I was not aware of Borneman’s recipe. However, I’ve used lye (sodium hydroxide solution) to kill aptasia….the solution I make up to regenerate my DI resin.
Lye is a strong caustic alkaline (base pH) chemical that is similar to other aptasia killers in that it will quickly “dissolve” the...
Paul, you will never cease to amaze me….this Rube Goldberg of yours reminds me of the game, Mouse Trap:
I bet if you mounted a computer fan on the water ladder it would cool even more.
Pretty neat!
Dave, the above bolded symbol (>), is a GREATER THAN symbol. So if you want more phosphate, I’ll send you down some of my tank water. That should easily raise your phosphate above 0.03. ;D ;D ;D ::)
Wow! Jen and Ed, congratulations.
Ed, I wish I could have talked to you before……….one is not enough, and two is way too many! (And, I’m hoping he shows an interest in soccer....see you on the pitch.) ;D
Olivier, it will fit a 75 gallon tank, and you are the first to respond, so that makes this stand YOURS!
If I were to keep this and use it, I would sand it and put on a fresh coat of polyurethane. As far as the structure, it was built with those large staples….I don’t like them. So I would also...
