Anyone have an Electrical Conduit Pipe Bender?

Oh! Now I’m starting to get a clearer picture. This stuff is pretty flexible. My guess now is that it isn’t going to work….but I say that having no idea of the span it will need to go and the size/weight of the fixture. Why not just use wood. Cheap, ridged, easy to work with and will hold a lot...

Anyone have an Electrical Conduit Pipe Bender?

Walk into any Home Depot and go to the "electic" area. They have half an isle filled with conduit stuff...boxes, pipe, fittings, etc. It glues up just like pvc water/waste pipe and is even a little cheaper. I think a ten foot lenght of 3/4 conduit is under 2 bucks. Not sure what fixture you...

Copper Leaching - Myth or Fact??

Copper doesn’t evaporate. It is a metal. It has to be washed out; chelated; ionically changed, for it to come out of the rock. Letting rock sit for a long period of time that has been treated with copper is called rock containing copper. No change will occur over time in regard to copper content.

Copper Leaching - Myth or Fact??

I will emphatically state that copper is not “absorbed” into the glass or silicone of a tank. If you are not absorbed, you can not leach. So the tank may be used again after a good cleaning. The copper just washes away. All the other stuff, I’ve got a concern. I would be very leery about using...

Macro Pictures of Bubble Algae Spores

Why run airstones? That will assist in dissipating the chlorine. Also, please realize that chorine is “consumed” in the oxidation process. If you’ve got a lot of organic matter, might just need to add another bottle or two. Although if you mean 50 percent of store bought bleach to water, that’s...

HELP – Aspect Ratio is Screwed Up

I think I fixed it. Let me translate....I mysteriously hit the right buttons to fix the problem, but don’t ask me how I did it. Thanks Mike and Brian. I learned something today…to never hook my computer to the TV.

HELP – Aspect Ratio is Screwed Up

Brian, I should clarify…I’m a idiot…you need to tell me exactly what buttons to push. I did go to properties…setting and increased my resolution. It is now very crisp and very pretty looking …..AND stretched out. Mike, I have an ACER. No button on the top just for this.

HELP – Aspect Ratio is Screwed Up

I hooked up my little netbook to our TV through the VGA port. When I unhooked it, the netbook screen now looks like it is being stretched from left to right….as if it took on the aspect of the TV. I’ve turned the computer on and off and still the same. How do I get back my aspect? Thanks

    brand new to reef keeping

Wow, six of one, half a dozen of the other. You can go either way…pluses and minuses with both. I actually run a MAG 9 as a return pump for my 90….doesn’t make it right!

    brand new to reef keeping

Welcome Brian. My advise on a refugium build is to not put in your partitions until skimmer is in hand. You want to make sure it fits! By the way, you’ve found the best place to get answers to all you questions….and some of the answers might actually be right. ;D ;D ;D

    Her 20 (pics)

Yes…it has minimal light needs and can take wide swings in temperature. The interesting thing is that with increasing temperature, a red line appears along its lateral side. The one problem is that they are extremely slow growing. I’ve had mine for years and see minimal growth….should have taken...

    Copper treated fish tanks

Copper does not "stick" to glass or silicone. A good cleaning with a mild acid (vinegar), and rinsed well, should do the trick. Now when it comes to wheeling and dealing for the tank, mention that the copper "ruined" the tank, and see if you can cut the price even more. ;D

Always like to find the positive in whatever happens, and it looks like you guys did just that. Plan looks good!….And two new additions. However, I had to go back and re-read your first post, because I thought you had said the 12 was going…and sure enough, that is what I found. I guess the...
