I put the scopas in a week ago. Yesterday it was covered in Ich, in the DT. There are at least 20 spots floating on top of the slime. It happened really fast. One day there is nothing the next whole body is covered. Today the spots are mostly gone. None of the other fish is affected so far. So...
Shrimp and inverts are kept in normal salinity while most fish are kept in much lower levels in most stores. If you didn't drop acclimated for more than one hour I would say this might be the reason it's dead
I bought a small tang last week and put him in a 20L with some rocks. I was gonna give it some Prazi treatment to deworm it. I heard deworming needed for wild fish because new fish are laden with all kind of bad stuff, fluke etc ... But it was quite stressed so I said what the hell and put him...
Glad everything's ok. Kind of disappointed by the lack of supermodel involvement in the story. Paul, you could've written that and we'd have believed it.
I highly recommend Herbie style drain. It's completely quiet and no splashing of water into the sump. For dual overflow you can have one setup as Herbie and use the other for return + a second emergency drain. Use 3/4" for the siphon drain and 1" for emergency.
I found bubble trap unnecessary...
Scopas tang. What an underrated fish! There are a few different color morphs. Mine is almost all dark blue and lighter toward the head. Not as aggressive as other Zebrasomas and the color is really striking when mixed with orange and red-colored fish in the tank.
I would go with LED's.
Do you have a specific reason to setup a tank with that kind of dimensions? Seahorse comes to mind. Otherwise why not setup one that are easier to work with?
This showed up on the bottom of the tank. Right now it's the siZe of a zoa polyp but it was smaller when I first noticed it. From what I can see it kind of like an acan. I have not added any coral for a while nor did I add any live rock. I have added a few emerald crabs. It's quite pretty and...
Welcome abroad. You'll love SW for the endless frustrations. So don't expect to do everything right the first time then you'll be fine. Do get the parameters of the new SW from the LFS. Sometimes the numbers could be all over the place depending on the salt used. ATO is a must and Tunze is a...
Add nothing except alk and calc thru dosing.
Light on 12 hours 7 hours peak.
For PO4 and NO3 I shoot for undetectable levels however I have not yet achieved that. Still working on ramping up nutrient export. Algae is getting a little out of control right now. Run super-sized skimmer, refugium...
