Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I decided to add chemiclean to help suffocate the dino, red slime, etc. Will do a WC tomorrow and then add the very small fuge, just need a tiny bit of chaeto.
Eventually will try peroxide dosing. I think the issue started when I started to feed pellets. Wanted to switch up the food and guess...
Sorry to hear about that Mark_C. At least I'm not the only one that has this issue.
Hope I don't have a major algae bloom while I'm away with fuge running.
Only time will tell.
I had to just vent/rant what have you. When I started this hobby I had a 55g with all HOB equipment and it was bad and then found this club. Shortly after I upgraded to 75g RR. The sump was small so no room for a fuge so I kept using the HOB fuge and the tank did well. I then obtained a bigger...
Considering my Dino issues. I am taking steps to rectify and am now considering an RO/DI unit.
I have a 72g DT and 2og sump. Sump is 1/2 full so let's say 10g; total water volume 82g rounded to 80g.
My question is how long would it take to switch over to RO/DI only using my ATO?
The reservoir...
So I ordered the items in hopes to make a mini fuge. Water is being made now too.
Tomorrow will siphon out what I can and clean the rocks.
I will also start dosing peroxide at 1ml per 10g. I estimate 80g total volume for DT and sump which is 8ml daily.
If this sounds wrong please let me know.
I read Dino is from excess nutrients. I figured manual removal and cheto in the fug e would help with excess nutrients. Also, read about peroxide but dosing. Trying to limit my dosing if possible. I'm going on vacation 1st week of April and trying prevention getting any worse while away.
The scrubber is way out of my price range. There is just no room under the stand to add any type of reactor. The sump has no room either. This is why I was thinking HOB its not to unsightly being small, plus its cheap. I am hoping by adding cheato this will help with the algae/dino issues.
I was thinking of setting up a small fuge. The CPR was big so sold it hoping I could add an algae scrubber but really no room for it.
Amazon has this for sale and am considering it for a HOB fug...
Marcus, good call. I did a little research this morning. Stuck my hand in the tank to see if the bubbles were hard and they were not. It was squishy and popped easily and a gas bubble went right to the surface. I can pull the three rocks out and clean them, siphon sand but not sure on overflow...
