The turtle ended up with a n ear infection. A big bubble formed on the tympanic membraneand surgery is the only option, don't ask the cost. My son and I researched the procedure and took the plunge. We bought what we didn't have and sterilized everything. He held the turtle while I lanced it...
I only have use filter sock from DT into sump. The Hair Algae was there before I started dosing and was hoping to eliminate or control it this way.
From what others have told me is I need a better skimmer and am saving for one. I hope between that and the vinegar things will get better.

Nitrates still steady at 40ppm. I am wondering now if I should increase the dosage. It seems at 20ppm Nitrates were at 5ppm or a bit lower.
Any suggestions from you vinegar dosers?
Today I decided to make a few small changes to my tank. First I moved the dual pumps from the back glass left and right to the sides. So they now it flows the length in stead of width of the tank. Next change was I put the legs on my light fixture and place it on top of the canopy. I did this...

What is everyone's...

I was told to not run the skimmer while the tank is cycling. Should be okay to run once its cycled and have a few inhabitants in the tank.
But let others jump in here with their opinions.
