I caught this one swimming with a male...they were busy trying to procreate....hahahah. I left to get a bucket and my daughter was not able to coral the male to stay in the net...
(notice requisite princess bucket my girls insist on bringing to the beach)...sigh.
Beautiful day....(high tide...
A few of these temperate nassarius (not nassarius vibex) snails:
I believe this is a juvenile menhaden / aka bunker / bait fish. There were quite a few swimming around in like 1" of water.
The sand was "clear" but the kids released the hundred or so hermit crabs (every black dot)
A dead...
Last year it was nice for NJRC to do a beach clean up at Sandy Hook. It was scenic and beautiful. With summer here it's interesting how many more cars/people there are - although still not as crazy as say jenkinsons.
anyways - on the bay side of the park, the low tide recedes enough to find...
Stop catching menhaden for bait...I see a lot of them out in sandy hook. good ole wikipedia:
"The muddy brown color ...and the growing dead zones...are the direct result of inadequate water filtration — a job that was once carried out by menhaden. An adult menhaden can rid four to six gallons...
go to cbssportsonline.
Then click fantasy (it's like towards the middle bottom)
Create an id if you don't have one (i didn't).
hit "join for free" - i think it's the option all the way on the right.
Then create the team name. I just made something silly up.
Find the league - enter NJRC...
hey paul - love the tank and your threads.
Did the copperband check out the beer can and expect imported instead of domestic? ;) I forget what brand you have in the tank.
for the record - tunze no longer makes the 6100. the 6100 and 6000 are identical in every way, shape, label included - except the hockey puck driver are different sized. Many people think they have the 6100 because the label says 6100 - but that doesn't define the type at all - it's the hockey...
you sure it's the 6100 and not the 6000? the difference is that the 6100 utilizes that larger sized driver (think hockey puck sized). The 6000 uses the smaller driver (think air hockey kinda).
I assume the 72 gallon is 4 feet long? if so I'd place it in the back right and aim across the tank...
I just flipped it on - and ok - when they start putting fish in the car/tank - the guy describes the puffer and says it has an extra long snout to get at algae behind the rocks, I already lost all respect for him.
I thought all puffers are carnivores? I don't pretend to know everything so...
mark - unless you place the BTA at the top point of your tank - i would skip it.
buddy of mine has a 90 gallon and pc lights - and the bta plopped itself so high up in the tank that it was exposed everytime a water change was done.
you're going to get various opinions on this.
rather than focus on the brand - I would just suggest you focus on what to test:

if the tank is already set up you can skip the ammonia/nitrite kits. In my humble...
