i thought bluelines were iwaki's but made in america?
i also thought (perhaps internet urban legend) that the japanese models were better than the us made ones?
welcome! glad you found this site.
the sump should be as big as you can afford/make it - but i'm assuming you are talking about under the tank/in the stand sump. If that is the case then you're limited to probably a 20 gallon sump or so.
In addition because of the space limitations - you could...
don't be surprised if they still go for the snails. As a crab the choice between detritus and escargot is just too easy....
i was going to go crabless in my tank but added a handful I got for free from MACNA/coralmorphologic. Tiny little guys seemed ok...(famous last words)
yeah but years ago the take from the hudson was supposedly limited to 1~2 a month due to the carcinogens. (Thanks GE!) of course now the river is safe enough to even swim!
Hey Paul -
Being a ny'er (almost) all my life - the urban legend in the past was that wasn't a river - that was dumping ground for...well...people that were supposed to disappear. ::)
What's even crazier is seeing people fishing that estuary.
Anyways - neat pics. thanks.

on the last post he mentions rinsing them until the water runs clear - do not burst the eggs. Good luck!
bristle worms are pretty efficient. Forget the hermits - in my opinion the best scavenger is the nassarius snail. Faster and help to turn the sandbed (if you have one).
At that size tank there should not be any impact to your tank params. The tang is a messy eater and it's death will temp spike...
my tunzes blow the sand everywhere...making a mess. Stupid sand has iron elements in them too causing them to stick to the magnets.
That stated - I love my jawfish - such great personalities. I have the sand in there pretty much for them.
Oh and being able to keep wrasses is also a nice plus...
it's a long shot but maybe OGII knows others who had the issue with the clowns and has an idea how to help. I dunno - but was thinking maybe the place you got the clowns from might help. Worth a shot.
Then again - when it comes to tank-raised clowns - sometimes you never know if the fish is...
