Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
there's a guy on another board who's done it for years with no adverse affects. Of course he also has a beer can in his tank so who knows. I guess you could call it a literal depiction of the atlantic coastline. ;)
i think if you are into SPS and sensitive corals -it's probably better to go the...
i would try and move them into a shady corner. I don't have any exp with palys but corals (or clams) that start to bleach usually are a sign that they are expelling the zoo in the flesh because they are producing too much.
awesome tanks! Thanks for sharing!!
great example of sticking by something that works...hey if tap water works...go for it.
I just get hordes or diatoms/algae! :P
btw - does miracle need live food?
if it's cyano you should suck out whatever mat you see. Then occasionally blow the area with the PH when you do your maintenance. Cyano forms because the water flow is slightly slower allowing the nutrients in the area to build up. Blowing/dispersing will allow the nutrients to flow out either...
i'm sure corals can go without light more than a day -the clarity/turbidity of water changes a lot over the course of a year and I wouldn't sweat 24 hrs of no light. Not to mention cloudcover/rain/hurricanes etc.
Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
whoa - i'm on the third page (tank tales)! what happened!!
So a month has passed. I have to say that without a skimmer I really need to stay on top of the water changes - and I'll be blunt - I haven't. I have got major diatoms all over...
hang in there - we all go thru issues/murphy's law once in a while. If everything were easy - they'd just print the instructions on the salt bag and no one would ever go to an internet forum to ask questions / post experiences.
Honestly I think it's great that seasoned folks (i consider anyone...
i don't know if that will work... What I am thinking is that the intake (the ph) absolutely has to be outside the overflow - since the overflow will be too low for the PH to be situated. This means the outflow would have to be in the overflow and you may hear some noise from the water dropping...
sign up to become a member...then participate in the group buy for AWI coming up next. You'll be able to get a RODI for a good price.
With a nano though - perhaps you don't want to make that investment (i would since this hobby is addicting and for all I know you'll have four nanos next...
nice pics sandee...i'm surprised you took any of ny's...not much there if you ask me! :P I walked by jenkinsons' only because the sticker-shock compared to the size of the place.
(hijack warning) Noticed you don't have New England's on your list...you should check that place out in Boston. I...
for a mixed reef like this - i'd just make sure my bulbs were good/adequate and you should be good to go for the photosynthetic corals. The filter feeders like the coco worms and feather dusters are more of a pita - in a mature tank they may be ok without feeding but for newer tanks you may want...
one other thought - you already have the tunze footprint - with the tank maturing - the corals will impact the flow as you originally designed it...that is, there probably parts of the tank that used to get flow that don't anymore -hence some spots of cyano.
One idea would be to just upgrade...
google up amphipods. If that's what you have - they are basically a nice live treat for fish...yummy! no worries. Maybe if they were in plague proportions (then you're feeding too much).
