No problem! See if you can grab a book on fishes - I personally love Robert Fenner's "the conscientious marine aquarist"...great tips on fish (not as expansive though if you want coral/invert advice).
Oh and no matter what you do - don't feel pressured to have to walk out the store with a...
Your subject line and what you are actually looking to get are different things altogether. :) What you are asking for is pretty much a staple for all LFS to have...although I don't know what a fire or yellow goby is - are you talking citron goby? yellow jawfish? yellow watchman goby? a...
You don't have an overflow do you? Anyways - I'm curious if you are getting a lot of salt spray from that spray bar. Unlike freshwater where it's fun to see lots of bubbles - bubbles in saltwater just create a lot of mess.
Diatom filters are not for saltwater tanks. Just let it be.

when I used "dry" sand - it took a while for the cloudiness to disappear. With the 'live' sand I got from AO - it took maybe an hour for it to clear up.
As for shells - exactly what matt said - it depends on what type you get. The sand with shell is helpful for species that are diggers that...
i wouldn't get rid of the damsels. I'd just add a tougher fish to the mix. A trigger will hold it's own against those damsels. Or go for an angel.
Whatever happened to the tank at school? did that ever get going?
