    what water to use

*generally speaking yes*. I found tap water in manhattan to be superb. The tap water from my township here in nj is horrid.

    New Additions

LOL. That is cool. Just wondering how big the tank is - so I could imagine the school. Neat! I'm probably going to go the route of cardinalfish to serve as my school. They don't have the color of chromis but I've read that they are a bit hardier. Good luck! I'm looking forward to the 16 (my...

Tiny white starfish too many ??

Thanks Red! I was just wondering because if you had something - it could help put to rest a lot of the different internet rumors. But yes - I agree - when in doubt (but they are so tiny and such a pain to grab).

Tiny white starfish too many ??

Can you provide some documentation where you found this? I'm been hearing conflicting accounts and I frankly I don't believe everything I read on the internet. That stated, I rip out asterina as soon as I see them. After hearing them congregate on his clam - that makes me redouble my efforts...

    Algae growth

maybe upgrade the Clean up crew - what do you have for the sand bed (if anything?) you could consider maybe adding a few nassarius (keep in mind they want meat, they just stir the sand bed) snails and a few cerith snails.

    My new 90 gallon

Joe - what kind of tunzes you have there 6000/6100s? What did you mount the transformers on to - a white piece of 2x4 or something? Just curious. Do you have a multi-controller for the tunzes? Did you see if your sand had iron in it also? Don't drop those tunze magnets like I did into the...

    Oceanic 70 Gallon Tech Tank

Did you end up picking up a EV120? I used a mag 5 - no dial back or ball valve. I forget but I might have upgraded it to a mag 7 - but it's been a while. I can check the set up around christmas when I visit the family. The skimmer is really sensitive. Any hands in the tank will result in zero...

great article on cukes... http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/jan2003/invert.htm Anyways - I agree with everyone here - it's diatoms. But how old is the tank? You say you have corals and a clam in there already. are you using RODI water to top off? I must be blind not reading your earlier...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

Go with Australia - they are less likely to be caught via methods that are better for the fish. SORRY to hear about the accident. Based on your post I would assume all is ok. Rainy weather is always bad to navigate...especially with all the deer on the side of the roads.

    Solaris I5

I'm using sam's old 48" G series (made in China). I don't have enough mileage to give you any feedback. I've read all the horror stories about the G but for now have been pleased with it's performance (no corals in my tank yet - still too new). There is another maker of LEDs based in the USa - I...

    Nitrates/NO3 at 80ppm

Hey everyone - I was reading the sur4die's tale of the tank - and I think this got buried among all the recent posts. Anyways - his nitrates are at 80ppm. He is using the 'Old' Sand that was in the tank (which he purchased complete). I suggested a 100% water change - but I'm not sure. Any...
