messed up - the 100 watts mentioned above would be run 24hrs - not the 8mentioned...so .1 kwh times another 16 hrs = 1.6 khw times 30 days = 48 watts more per month. So overall you are being billed for another 200 watts per month. That'd be about $20.
I say ask the kids! ;)
lets see...i do hope someone double checks my figures...
220 watts of vho
325 watts of mh
100 (or so) watts for everything else mentioned
645 total. Figure you run them 8 hrs a day.
.645 khw/h times 8 hrs = 5.16 khw/h per day. A monthly electrical bill is 30 days - so your lights are costing...
Actually nassarius vibex are carrion/detrius eaters - they do not eat algae whatsoever. But the snails may starve if nothing of substance hits the sand. I have never seen my nassarius climb LR - so keep that in mind as your tank looks pretty full. Always neat to see them "erupt" out of the sand...
welcome adam! feel free to start a nano-tank thread - lots of folks there to compare notes with. Those snails are a great choice (unless your tank is barebottom).
there's also a thread going on for "south" members...welcome again!
Can you recheck the ALK? How is that measured...is it (meq/L) or (dKH) - I think you might be reading that wrong.
I agree with mark - might want to increase the water change to reduce the Nitrates.
I understand the desire for "digital" readings but the cost may not be justified given the size...
I would say that obviously there are many "roads that lead to rome" so to speak. Each one of us will be different - but if indeed pete needs 440 grazers in your 220 tank(per garf) - I strongly suggest not buying all 400 at once. If you find that your nutrient /algae growth is minimal, you could...
i think a cheesecloth or similar material can help grab them (cover it on the end that is in the bucket... - this way you can re-use the water - not sure if that makes sense without a pic. I think I saw melev do this once...
I never understand this kind of strategy by a seller - unless the employee is just temporary and looking to boost sales to look good - it's a slash/burn kinda strategy where you make money early on but lose long-term customers.
At least she walked into an LFS...what if she went "next door" to...
primer...that's right...it's been like 4 years since i used the stuff...lol. Thanks for the tip. I think phyl mentioned that there was a clear primer that could be used-so the pvc pipes wouldn't show purple everywhere. Anyways- the set up is nice. If it were me there'd be purple gobs everywhere! ;D
just keep in mind an anemone is an animal and may decide to up and move a sting all the corals along the way. In larger tanks this is less of an issue- with a 29 u just have to realize this possibility (or it moving into a PH). Not sure what clown u r interested in or what anemone -but a couple...
Here is David's (malalu) solution:

It will still allow some light to penetrate...in my old aga I put a small piece of styrofoam to block the light so the algae could not grow.
I signed in once a long long time ago and never had to do that again on my home pc. Are you deleting all the cookies in your browser daily? Check your security settings.
