I was under the impression that chromis and anthias (dont get all males) will school - but I believe it depends on the set up.
Others with more experience can chime in. Typical schools that one might see usually involve much bigger fish. I mean, I have seen a school of yellow tangs in hawaii...

you could always drop it in from above...take the tank off the stand, then drop the 10g in.
You should make sure the seals and everything are solid on the 10G before doing this though.

Hard to tell from your pic if it is a sundial. If you can get a pic of the aperture, you'll be able to see for sure if it's a collonista (safe) or the zoa eating sundial.
