Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Other than pom pom and porcelain crabs - my personal opinion is to toss him. Do not stop at the jersey shore to drop off...
I know folks like emerald and sally lightfoots - but I've always believed the right mixture of snails will eliminate any need for a crab (hermits included).
Or I guess...
But it eats the squid/shrimp when you are there right?
My point is that it should be gaining weight while you are home...and in the infrequent times you are away - it will have to go on a diet. I honestly don't see an issue with a fish not eating food 2 times a week...unless it's a grazer that...
yep - i have an ev120 on my 55....it is very quiet and barely cleared the stand height (sitting in the sump). The mag 7 is a lot louder than the skimmer and while I would say it took a few weeks to tune (memory is fuzzy) - it did grab gobs of sludge out...but in the cup and the neck. One thing I...
It's a little shady to me that the first guy on the "recommended" list is a "aquarium writer and hobbyist" - yet I can't google him anywhere...
Then the last recommendation - I've heard that the president of BAS is an intelligent guy but to allow his club to put a "seal of approval" on a...
nice...that little false perc looks really tiny! or is that the bow front messing with me?
the tank looks great - no red algae or hair algae to be seen!
nice start - I like the black finish. It's actually good you don't have a built in overflow - the one I had from AGA - it really ate up a lot of real estate.
looking forward to see the progress pics...you can almost see your fish in the 20g wanting to "jump" over into the big new home! ;D
There are a lot of things people can buy to add to their tank. Are they all necessary? Depends on what you are trying to do.
You mentioned on the other thread that you weren't going for the super pricey coral...which leads me to think that a good solid basic set up is what you should start...
(snipped)...nevermind...
minor quip - it's a 250 MH - what kind of bulb did you get?
the 2x65 - i assume those are pc actinics?
love to see another FTS with all the critters you have. By the way - check your params as it's always better to take it slow initially...when you ramp up quickly...
In lieu of one of the mag 7 - could drop a ph in there...
Tunze nano 6025 - 6 watts
Seio m620 - 8 watts
what are you using those pumps for? I assume one is to return on the 70gallon, and the other is for a skimmer? closed loop?
A little off topic but my daughter was in the car with us and we drove by our neighbor's Halloween tombstone decorations and she asks...
"Who's RIP"?
;)
Yeah - nothing like talking about life/death with a 5 yr old...
Not that I doubt the acjr - but before implementing any "fix" - might want to double check the reading.
That stated - here's a good article about low ph by dr. randy-h-farley.
Low PH: Causes & Cures
tank is really beautiful - it shows that someone dedicated and caring is at the helm...kudos to you!!!
Hey - when the tank gets too crowded, you could frag some and then use the proceeds to get a bigger tank!
LOL. Sorry.
The answer is...ready..."It depends".
If you want actinic lights - then the suggestion is to use VHO. I dunno how long before you re-lamp your VHOs - but in essence Andy is saying there is no specific timeline needed for actinics - just re-lamp them when you think the color is not...
well - i had a tunze 6060 in a 55 (on one side angled) - and yes the hammer and frogspawn didn't like the direct stream, (the current would literally cause the flesh to recede) - they seem to enjoy the tank having the higher flow.
But I certainly concur with Bill...if you plan on LPS - there's...
