Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
T5s are the "new" technology so it's understandable that some folks will want to light their tank solely with them. In addition you could avoid having two ballasts.
I think it ends up being personal preference. Some folks like the pop from the actinics of VHO and the "shimmer" effect of MH. I...
wow...i was pm'd that link and at first I was scratching my head wondering what that had anything to do with this hobby...then my cable modem went bla and didn't think twice about it until I read this thread...(light bulb over head). Maybe Mr. Dolan spent all his money on the knicks and didn't...
As i recall i had about 21 inches (approx) from bottom to top - so it was just enough to remove the cup. (The skimmer was an aqua c ev 120 skimmer). I went with that model at the time because I had intended to upgrade to a larger tank. I think though after reading all the input on the MRC - that...
The 55 I had - I put an 18" skimmer (tall) on it. I still had some room to maneuver the cup off (twist, lift). Honestly though I didn't do that too often since I attached a bottle to the skimmer outflow so the bottle was the only thing I was taking out with frequency (to dump the skimmate).
To catch a damsel, a nice dinner out and perhaps a nice poem or fresh flowers would help. Although some damsels may also enjoy a beer at a ballgame.
Oh wait - what forum is this?
Well - damsels are territorial - it's their nature and how they "defend" their turf against other damsels so that...
actually one could keep a pair of females...or a male and female (but after they breed you'll have to remove the female).
you could always get her a pleco... ::) they only grow to like 2 feet...
Personally I was partial to those little african clawed aquatic frogs.
That old saying of "many roads lead to rome" seems to be applicable here...
I'd try it and post later your results/thoughts. Seems like a logical solution you are presenting - assuming the legs are sturdy and can hold up the fixture from the front and back.
The last thing you want is that...
The Remora is pretty popular among those that choose to have a skimmer sit in the back as a "HOB". My experience with aqua c is limited to their ev series which are notorious for being tardy in the "break-in" process. But I liked their customer service.
However, without an idea of the size of...
Krylon -
You will not need a "moon" light lamp for corals - perhaps for aesthetics. At this stage of the cycle, I would suggest you hold off on spending any dollars on lighting and focus more on how you plan on filtering the tank. For now - I suggest you consider adding more LR (live rock) as...
wow looks fantastic. I wish I could have gotten a 210/180 sized tank...but my budget and (better half) thought it might be too much of a jump for me.
Keep us posted. I'm probably going to be tagging along since I need as many tips as possible when I finally upgrade my tank.
Welcome!
What kind of equipment do you have set up? Looks like you picked up a pair of 3 stripe damsel fish Dascyllus aruanus. They are really hardy but honestly not needed to help cycle the tank.
Definitely read up on the forums here to get as much info as you can. Might want to hold off on...
