I now use Bayer Advanced…..1 ml to every 100 mls of tank water….for about 15 minutes. Kills everything (maybe with the exception of eggs….don’t know about them.)

Friends, Romans, Countryman, lend me your buckets!

He specifically mentioned the 6 gal buckets. I’m giving him five reef crystal buckets, and a 20, 32 and 44 gallon Brutes, with the 20 and 44 being delivered to the January meeting. Actually if you don't mind, I could just come to your house and save a few miles....and if Brian sees this as well.

Friends, Romans, Countryman, lend me your buckets!

David, I talked to Brian this morning and plan on meeting him at OGII at 5:00PM….he’s working today. He mentioned that he planned on first stopping at your place before going to OGII. Hopefully he’ll see this before leaving work and can verify.

    Fan in Canopy

To answer your question about a computer fan, they are all 12 volt. So you will need a 12VDC (or less) power source that is rated to the amps (or more) of the fan. So if your fan is 0.3 amps, the power supply has to be 0.3 amps or more. I originally had a five computer fan setup on my tank...

Friends, Romans, Countryman, lend me your buckets!

I could probably come up with three or four five gallon buckets. In addition, I still have the 32 gallon Brute you wish to buy. And furthermore, I still have a 44 and 20 gallon Brute waiting delivery to the January meeting, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind you using them, especially if...

Picking up the pieces... and moving forward!

I’d get rid of that heater in the five gallon bucket. The float switch will add very small quantities (when needed), with very little impact on total tank temperature. The problem is going to be when the water level drops too low in that bucket and blows an overheated heater.

Looking for a custom metal stand fabricator.

I don’t know of a fabricator who specializes in tank stands, but locally for me (Sayreville), we have D L Zagata on 33 Brookside Avenue, Sayreville, NJ 08872…..(732) 254-2200. He is a metal fabricator and if you give him the plans/dimensions, that’s what you’ll get. I’ve used him for some...

    Video of my tank

Darn you Sunny! I just pulled down that piece-o-crap tank I have and purchased a 70” flat screen TV where I’ve looped your video and run it non-stop. I just can’t find the words that fairly describe your tank!

    T5 ballast or lamp issue

Mike, my guess is bulbs, and if you were closer, I’d have the bulbs to check it out. Find someone in your neck of the woods that has some extra bulbs hanging around to check out the situation.

    Inherited 90

I apologize, I’m just gloating a bit on how well this DIY turned out. Just finished the second base unit and put it in place. I’m very happy with the cleaner look, the way both containers fit the small side area of the stand (like it was originally planned), and that now I am that much closer...

    New Twin spot Wrasse

Ed, sorry for the loss. It’s amazing how we become attached to our fish. Like others, hopefully the wrasse is just playing the hiding game. I never thought puffers were the jumping type. I would expect the wrasse, but not the puffer. Might want to look into something to keep potential...

    Adding sand to running tank

I see mnat replied while I was typing....but here is what I say: Do not take the rock out. You want your rock sitting directly on the bottom glass. Here’s how you do it: Get a PVC pipe that is slightly longer than the depth of your tank. I like using 1 ½” pipe, but dependent on the...
