I guess you can say I’m having water flow problems…..the water isn’t flowing. All three pumps are crapped out. I’m sure what this a-hole did was eventually go through three pumps and said, “that’s it!” And so now I have it.
If I knew I could buy a mod’ed pump that worked, I’d go for it...
It would be better for you to set up a 55 gallon drum with a $20 air pump and a Maxijet to pump the bubbled water through the DI resin.
Fill the drum with RO water, let the water bubble overnight and then pump it through your DI resin….and this resin will now last forever.
I’ve got to...
Well it’s about time.
With a split bed (anion resin in one reactor and cation resin in another), the regeneration is a snap. Just soak the resin in either acid or base for an hour and then rinse with DI water. Done!
The chemistry that is happening is that acidic CO2 (common with NJ well...
I’m saving a ton of electricity now. Just checked on the skimmer, and the bubble column has collapsed yet again. I tried all iterations of impellers and pumps, and I’ve got nothing. So right now I’m not running a skimmer.
First thing tomorrow morning I’m cleaning up the MRC and putting...
Spent the day out and about and came home to this:
Just like yesterday, a few hours after setting up the skimmer, the bubble column was collapsed, but something was still going on. With the reading I’ve done over the past day, I tried blowing into the air feed line, and nothing happened...
It was on RC:
SWC 160 Cone Skimmer
Question about settings on the SWC: I was born and bred on becketted skimmers, and I could never figure out why they put a valve on the air intake….you just always ran that full open. Is that the same case with the SWC? I’ve got the air pick-up wide...
You could us RO only....dependent on the rejection rate, will get your water hopefully to a couple TDS.
Most prefer to purify even further by running the water through a DI unit, which should bring to the water to zero TDS.
EDIT TO ADD….just read the info on the unit you are considering. If...
I think I might have been snookered!
The SWC I just bought is used, and was sold with two extra pumps. One pump flat out doesn’t work. One impeller has a broken ceramic shaft. A second pump “worked” for a couple hours and then the bubble column collapsed….no skimmate produced. Something is...
Sounds of Silence
Switched out the old MRC 3 skimmer with a MAG 24, for an SWC 160 Xtreme Cone. The driving force behind the switch was energy consumption. The MAG 24 pulled a whopping 265 watts, while the SWC only pulls a measly 27 watts. I’m just hoping the SWC pulls the gunk like the...
It’s precipitated calcium carbonate. To minimize carbonate precipitation, two recommendations:
1. Always have the full volume of water when mixing salt. That is, don’t make a salt concentrate that is later diluted out to the correct salinity. The higher alc/calc concentrations will cause...
OK, now back to those of us who have the Atman 2500…..I’ve read a bunch of posts and let me summarize my findings.
I actually now have three impellers, and upon very close inspection, found that two are exactly alike, and one is slightly different. The slightly different one has an...
Flex PVC is made to be glued. Any clamp will not work. It is sized to fit into standard PVC fittings with cleaner and glue.
If you want to use clamps, use tubing!
Well this is most interesting. Both Mike and George have a BM NAC7, but one has a needle wheel and the other has a mesh wheel. I thought I read that BM came with a needle wheel….George, did you buy your skimmer new or could the previous own have mod’ed the skimmer with this mesh wheel...
If I’m not mistaken, the Atman 2500 on the BM uses the pinwheel while the Atman on the SWC has a custom mesh wheel, and it’s this mesh wheel that has been the cause of snapped impellers.
I’m having second thoughts about my Valentine’s gift I just bought myself. (What can I say, I love myself! :love_heart: ) Anyway, I just bought an SWC 160 xtreme cone skimmer. What scares me are the posts I’m now reading about the pump….the Atman 2500….and the problems with the mesh wheel...
Flex PVC can be handled just like rigid PVC......just go a little light with the cleaner.
As far a pipe straps suggested by George above, very good idea, but instead of the metal ones, use the plastic (PVC) ones that are used for conduit.
EDIT TO ADD: I know some HD's and Lowe's carry flex...
