I would be careful with crushed coral, it traps a ton of gunk and it much harder to clean.

It is good habit to vacuum, just don't do it all at once and do intrigue before a water change. Over time that stuff builds up and can present greater issues.

Start with some two part, I like BRS if you don't want to make your own. Very easy dosing system and pretty clear mixing instructions. The calculator on the website is also a nice help.

I would also probably SLOWLY bring alk up to 8.0 as well.
