I use the felt socks and actually like the way they polish the water.Every 3-4 days I change them out and just throw them in the washer with some bleach- let the cycles go and air dry....good to go.Sometimes I turn em inside out and give them a second wash if I fed heavily while using that pair.

Mark, I had a problem awhile back when it was "stuck" try some cooking oil around the threads and use the plastic wrench and tap it lightly with a hammer.OR try a pvc pipe over the handle of the plastic wrench for more leverage.I even tried to tighten it and in the next motion loosen it.
