I think it may be a bit too late for replacement,I went away for a few days when I came back it wasnt working,the pump was warm and the impeller seems stuck or seized in the unit...so based on yr advice I will stay with the 3500 Thanks for yr help :)

I have a Euro reef skimmer RS 80,the sedra 3500 seized and my question is- what replacement pump should I get? would a sedra 5000 work this skimmer,would I notice a differance in performance,or should I just stay with buying a new 3500? Any help/ ideas would be greatly appreciated,I need to get...

The build is coming along well,I was curious too,is there a space to the left or right of the overflow to accomadate the return to come up,over and down into the water,maybe adding an elbow/s?Or will it literally come up and over the overflow?

I have used the erythromycin in the past as a last resort,but as others have said nitrates and phosphates are usually the cause,you could also try the 3 days out of lights to help aid in the battle.also manually remove what you can and have a gd protein skimmer to take any additional excess...

Just a question,would you need to replace the covers/lenses? I run 4-175 Mh's on my tank,and have seen no "ill effects" from this,although I dont make it a habit to stare into them when the hoods open either..

yea I'd do the mag too,I have them on my tanks,on my 90 I have a mag 12,and you can upgrade the flow if you need to by getting a mag 18 imp..(thanks John 4 the info) I have a mag 9 on the 55..reliable if of course you do yr pump maint on them

I usually use caustic acid,just drop the powerhead in a small bucket of it,and watch the coraline just sizzle and smoke away,must be done in a well ventilated area though it burns eyes face and skin...Im kidding..jk white vin works good and no worries... :)

I had the same experiences with a few too,I tried the black imp,and the white imp,the white imp blew the back(top) off the powerhead,had the same occurrence with the imp"turning" or pulsing in the opp direction.Im trying a mod,without the mod...lol I drilled out the bottom of the original...
