Either way i think youll be fine. For future reference those hydrometers are never the best choice for testing. But they're usually closer than yours was. Sometimes you have to rinse them good in hot water to get the salt depoits off , and they'll work better

I had 2 acrylic tanks and never really a prob with scratches. But it took 10 times longer to clean the acrylic. Never used a magnet always stuck my hand in and wiped it with a washcloth. 99% of peoples scratches are from sand between the magnets
