Hmm. Hard to tell dimensions from the pics, but it LOOKS like you could move that baffle on the far right over. Looks like there is a slot for a baffle there. Only need one coming from the skimmer chamber to the fuge.
Not quite sure about that chamber on the left though. if that stuff is...
Nice! Grats. You are well on your way.
Shouldn't be any reason why you can't run your equipment internally. Just gotta plug up them holes.
And for cleaning? VINEGAR! A good white vinegar bath cures alot of crud! LOL!
I've always had emerald craps, never had them attack anything at all. BUT, they are primarily nocturnal and hiders. You will barely see them, if at all.
Sometimes just when I think one of my emeralds "went the way of the reef", I'll move a rock and it will come scampering out, or suddenly throw...
Good read, thanks. Time for an immediate second opinion on my TDS meter. Admittedly, I haven't done anything to that meter for probably 3 years or so.... Grr... How insanely STUPID to just plain overlook the testing mechanism because the test results were acceptable...
HOLY CRAP! You might be on to something there!
I just tested my straight water, and it tested at 42. NO WAY that's right! I have well water, and probably the worst well water in the state being slapped smack between the bay and the wetlands.
For ****s and giggles, I have a pur water filter on...
Good info. Thanks Dave.
Question though. What if you linked the two reactors together, but "ball valved" the connection to slow the flow between the GFO and carbon? Just thinking out loud. I try to limit the amount of pumps running in my water as much as possible. Fewer plugs = better IMHO.
I'm using reef crystals. Have been for a few years now. I'm considering switching to Tropic Marin. I have been fighting algae outbreaks I cannot nail down the source of for months now. And I have been reading ALOT of similar experiences with Reef Crystals. Don't know if any of it has any merrit...
I'm guessing if they were all introduced at the same time, had enough "caves" etc to retreat to on opposite ends of the tank, and with the 6' length of the tank, he'd probably be ok. Unless they all decided they wanted the same tiny little hole! ;)
BTW, good to see you back and active Sam!
Thanks Brando, just googled that fish store. 2 hrs 35 mins. OUCH! LOL! Living down here has its pluses, but it certainly has its minuses.
If I do make it up that far, I'll be sure to let you know ahead of time!
Some people have been able to keep multiple pairs of clowns, personally, I wouldn't risk it but that's just me.
Chromis are cool, I also like the yellow tailed blue damsels. I have a few in my 90 gallon and they are model citizens, very colorful.
I have a copperband butterfly in with softies...
Is that the 150watt or 250 watt version?
RO/DI definately and Return pump?
I have a typhoon III from Air Water Ice. But I know I have seen several people here have purchased from another vendor for significantly less and like it. Can't for the life of me remember what it was though, maybe...
Def two containers. I like to keep my RO completely seperate from my SW mixing container.
I just use the 30 gallon brute trash cans with the dolly that they snap on to.
I use my "refugium" for multiple things.
1: I keep macro algae in there to help nutrient export
2: It is a haven for "pods" that make their way back to the tank as food
3: If I have a frag, or a mushroom, or ricordia, something like that that needs time in low flow to attach, I use that section...
This I can definitely agree with.

-Livestock (of course, livestock should always continue to be considered, because it can sway your equipment choices...
Yup. Should be fine.
Moon lights are very cool. Not necessary, but definitely a plus.
Check around on Ebay etc. I've found several different times "strings" of pre-wired blue moon led's, and you can just attach them to your fixture.
As for shimmer? You can reproduce that by adding some brite...
If it makes you feel any better, I once bought a "dragon wrasse" because it was "so darned cool I had to have it", only to get home and find out the hardway it was a juvenile ROCK MOVER WRASSE! AAAAHHHH!!! What a MESS that little devil made! Should have been called a "SATAN'S BANE WRASSE"! LOL...
