Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I've been running these skimmers for years. Had the same problem that you had initially, the odd fluctuations etc.
I found a couple things:
1: don't completely scrub out the skimmer (like the instructions tell you to)everytime you clean it. I just wipe the collection cup funnel with a...
Thanks Bill!
Thanks for chiming in Paul! I've read through alot of the thread on your tank, and your input is welcome (as I'm sure Bill will agree!)
I'll caveat everything I'm about to say with the fact that my 90 gallon tank is my experiment. Has been running for about a year now with a...
I don't think front to back would be as effective or efficient according to the way Jake presented the workshop.
The idea was to get the pumps working more efficiently as well as create that circular "gyre" effect.
If a pump has the capability of reach across the surface 2/3 the length of the...
OMG. I'm so sorry... We lost out dachsie a couple months ago. Hit by a car. She never could resist people on bicycles.. It all happened so fast Nina didn't have time to stop her, Jorja just darted after the kids on the bikes, and bam. She died in Nina's arms. That dog went everywhere with us...
I'll chime in here Bill.
Most proponents (sp?) of GAC recomend active (reactor) vs passive (bag somewhere in the sump).
My understanding is while both can work, proper use of a reactor to actively pass the water over the carbon is far more effective then passive use by just placing a bag...
Fish Eggs, huh? Yeah, I won one of the Rod's Food original blend, and he gave me one of the big packages of the fish eggs. The fish AND corals LOVE that stuff. Think the CBB will go for those?
And where would I even get black worms?
What have you tried so far?
PaulB and Blange3 I believe are using blackworms successfully. You should hit them up. Theyve both been successful keeping them.
If the shimmer is the only thing making you hesitate about going T5 over MH, add a few high intensity LEDs. They provide a similar, if not the same, shimmer.

But even funnier, read the reviews of what people got in their "Box of Crap"!
I laughed so hard I nearly cried...
Is the ballast that "crapped out" an ARO ballast?
I believe ARO ballasts are produced by Lumen General Inc in California.

Hope this helps.
Pics don't do this tank justice! Absolutely incredible! I hope the 210 I got from you turns out HALF as nice as that new setup you have there! And the sump system is equally amazing. Thanks for showing me everything!
Check the domain registration information for the site that is spamming. It may be an affiliated or associated site to an online vendor that may be the common link. I've had that happen before. Purchase from a vendor, and suddenly start getting spams about an affiliated site that doesn't...
Thanks Mike!
84x24x24 huh? Who makes that tank? I think I like the idea of the longer length. And my stand fram is 96x24, so it will handle the tank easily. I wonder if I can get Dom at Aquarium Center to order that...
Had considered using the 9.5s for the returns, but wasnt sure if I'd be...
Thanks Bill. I'm leaning more and more towards the 180. But isn't the CS125 skimmer a little underpowered for that kind of volume?
I like the mag pumps. Was considering that, just wasn't sure what size I would need to power that size system. I'm running 9.5s with valves on both my 90 gallon tanks.
