Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
For those that were at our Frag swap back in June, you might remember a vendor we had Dirk. He had a huge booth with a ton of dry goods. He basically drives around the country going to different swaps selling dry goods. His van with all his reefing equipement was stolen in Ohio this week. If...
Flasher wrasses are really your best bet, a pair of them would do great in a 60 cube and they are not aggressive. You could look at a melanarus wrasse which are peaceful but might pickup off inverts depending on what you want to put in the tank. Leopard wrasses are incredibly peaceful but you...
Avoid the flaming prawn goby, they disapear in my 12g tank and there are many other people with the same experience. It is an expensive fish that you will never see. For the dracula goby, look for a tiger or candy cane pistol as they seem to be the best at pairing with shrimp and being reef...
Depends on what you are running in it. Different medias will require different volumes of media. Check which one you are going to use and roughly how much you will need. BRS has a nifty calculator on their site to help you figure it out.
Without a doubt call Chris then, if it is an issue with the fixture it should be covered under warranty. He can also walk you through it to see if it can be fixed. Good luck. I had some issues with the fans getting loud and after a phone call had new ones shipped to me for nothing, it was an...
One of the benefits of the mazzara is that you can change the bulbs very easily if you want to experiment with the color. We added red, green, and fiji pink style bulbs to ours.
The easiest thing to do it go to bulk reef supply and get their 1/4 inch clear mesh, nothing is making it through that and clear is always better.
Good call on skipping the naokos, besides the fact that they are active swimmer, they are incredibly aggressive fish.
Helfrichis are real deal...
That is a good stock list, actually understocked. The only caveat to that is when clowns begin to spawn they can become aggressive. When you stock a nano (we had a 30g cube for a few years), you just have to pay attention to where the fish "live" in the water column. For example, the clowns...
We pulled a pylie wrasse, rosefasciata wrasse, and the one that hurt the most our lineatus wrasse. The rosefasciata was a mistaken ID that we would have never put in the tank if I had known it was a rose as they are known for aggression. The pylie was picking on the attenuatus and some of the...
Helfrichi firefish is one of our all time favorites. They will jump so make sure you have a covered tank, look for a good healthy one at the store and make sure it is eating. They will be one of the first fish to show signs of ick in a system so it helps if your system is clean. Rock work...
I went right through coral vue. Unfortunately they are made in a way to fit the mazzaras that really is tough to replicate so they kind of have you. Reach out to Chris from Coralvue on here (he is a sponsor) and talk to him, he might be able to help you out.
Even with a big tank, we are still small fish people so we decided to change up our stocking plan yet again. We caught and moved out a few fish due to some aggression issues and we added a bunch of new fish. Unfortunately we did lose some fish, but that is the hobby. The current fish list...
I would avoid the chocolate chip star, as you stated they are not reef safe and no one really knows what they eat. They are mainly brought in as food not really as a pet per say.
