Greeting all!!!
We are excited to once again open our home to fellow reefers out there for a monthly gathering of NJRC people. Let's go over the nitty gritty:
Who: Us and hopefully you
What: NJRC monthly meeting
When: November 23rd (the weekend before Thanksgiving) 1-5 pm
Where: Our place...
It might be a drive for you, but my system is plumbed to the basement here in Point Pleasant and you are more than welcome to see it. Ethan from AO did the plumbing and used the flex pvc. It makes life 100 times easier with plumbing, and I believe he ordered it online.
Since you are going...
Just about any rock can be used as live rock however some rocks are considered better. The more surface area, the more beneficial bacteria you have, so you want open, pourous rock. This is why the old pound per gallon rule went by the wayside, older rock used to be essentially solid base rock...
Under the rocks is where a lot of stuff can accumulate, so if you are going to be moving some rocks out, go for it. Again, slow and careful and only do a portion at a time followed by a water change.
We had the same tank and it is a nice one. Very good call with going with your own stand, as the stock one was junk. Our 57g build thread should only be a few pages back in the talk of the tank forum. We ran it with one mp40 and it was fine, two will give you more than enough flow and you...
Cleaning the sand bed is an important part of maintanence and you should do it. Don't do the whole sandbed at once, just do pieces of it say like 10-20% at a time and then do a water change right after. This way you are not stirring up too much stuff and doing the water change will help. Keep...
The giant are 2-6 and two games out of first place which is just pathetic. However, I will take it going into the bye week. Seems like a lot of people in the NFC east are hoping for a draft pick. This is a great year for QBs in the draft as well.
The planets aligned, the pipefish was out yesterday morning and I had my camera handy and was able to snap off a few pics. You will note that the lights are off and I needed to use a flash so the pics look a lot different than normal.
I know Drs. Foster and Smith for salt can be unbeatable for IO shipped. Marine Depot is obviously the big boy for online stuff, and also check amazon, a lot more marine stuff up there now then there used to be.
Thank you Anthony and Terri for hosting. Thank you Jim for the amazing frags, ClassKlown as well (with an assist from Xaiver). It was great to sit down and talk some shop again.
Bulk reef supply as well, they have really good prices on carbon, gfo, etc. Champion lighting and TB aquatics are also good dry good dealers as well.
What are you looking for?
He is a bugger to photo because he does not really come out when the lights are on. He is also generally dancing in the rock work, not really front and center like the other fish.
We bought the pipefish in march. He spent the first couple months in our frag tank as the pod population at the time was better down there. We moved him to the display about three months later and he has stayed fat and happy. He is very active when the lights are lower and not out as much when...
