Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
We used a blend of tonga branch, real reef (the fake stuff), and other assorted live rock we have cherry picked throughout the years. If you are having problems with live rock, get the fake stuff so you know there will not be any issues. We had the luxury of time to cycle and clean our live...
I would buy new rock. You can still keep and work on the pukani and work it back into your system over time when you have it completely under control. To fight an ongoing battle that you know is going to to adversly affect your system to me is not something I would do. Figure when you factor...
The agenda for meeting is just pure reefing joy. A wonderfull oppurtunity to just get together with other reefers and talk shop without getting the looks of are you crazy that most normies give us when we discuss shop. Food is consumed, drink are imbibed and good times are had by all. There...
Fish look great. I have had my yellow watchman in my frag tank which has not sand and he has been fine. He has a little cave that he hangs out in and is doing well.
We have failed miserably with flames and a multicolor.
We currently have a joculator and a flame/potters hybrid (false shepardi). They are leaving our two clams alone, and the sps for now, but the joculator does pick at scolys.
we also did well with a Pygmy and a flame back.
You can get them seperate, we have done it several times. Candy striped pistols are our favorite as they stay relatively small and will absolutely pair up with the fish. The tiger is our second favorite but they do get bigger and are insane diggers. Any other kind I am very leary of as we have...
They are probably new, the only knock I have read on these heaters is that they are not bigger so they may have gone ahead and made the two bigger models and that is why they are backordered (my own speculation).
The other thing you can do it get 2 of the 100w to have some redundancy.
I agree that a pistol shrimp with a goby is an awesome addition to any tank. Of those fish in the link we have experience with the dracula, yasha, wheelers and the yellow watchman (That list is from favorite to least favorite).
Blue spot jawfish can be very tough, take a look at the smaller...
I would go with the ATI+ Purple. Dnov99 ran those in conjunction with his Sol Blues and they really added to the color of the fish and corals. With the magenta stunner strips, you might want to go with an actinic bulb if you fell you have enough "red" coming through. The blue+ is a great 14k...
Most (if not all) large angels will pick at corals. I have seen plenty in reef tanks but usually with large colonies of SPS that it does not matter if they pick a bit. LPS they could destroy it will depend on the fish. You just have to weigh the cost of the fish vs how much the corals cost...
