Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Lost said it, your RO membrane will remove chloramines. If you are a Nervous Nelly, you can switch out your regular carbon blocks with “catalytic” carbon. This carbon will also remove chloramines.
I think I might have found the cause for the above “whiting” of the mille (and now part of my brain as well). I installed two BRS dosing pumps about a month and a half ago, and I noticed that the calcium portion is only down about 2/3 when compared to the alk. I did calibrate both pumps, so...
I hate when this crap happens! Woke up this morning to find my teal milli with a couple of branches RTN’ed.
With the beautiful weather today, I haven’t tested the water. However, I’ve prepared 30 gallons for a water change tomorrow (typically do 15 gallons/week).
OK Jason, here’s how I’d play out this weekend: Tell your lovely bride that one of her Mother’s Day gifts is a fish that is as beautiful as she is. OR, better yet, tell her it's a surprise that is representitive of her beauty. You wanted to get a present that represented her beauty. This...
Here’s my bottle trap.
Cut the top off a soda bottle.
Cut the opening so that your fish will fit through the hole
Flip the top piece over and push it into the low part of the bottle.
Using a paper hole punch, punch holes around the diameter through both the top and bottom parts….three or...
This weekend! Make a trip out of it and stop off at Delicious Orchards…..mmmmmm….apple cider donuts with fresh apple cider…..with me, it never makes it out of the parking lot.......I might have to make a trip. It’s right on Route 34, close to the intersection of Route 18.
I've had very good luck with a simple bottle trap. I'm not sure if I showed you my trap, but the secret is to put a hole in the middle of the bottle and squirt some juicy food into the bottle. I then use the turkey baster to occasionally squirt water into the hole. This creates a "snow globe"...
I have no complaints about Eheim Automatic Feeder. I’ve used it three times when I’ve gone on vacation. It allows multiple feedings per day…..and simple to use.
Definitely no food coloring. Just regular old granulated sugar….and it is organic, like all sugar.
The “regular” mix they recommend is one cup sugar to four cups water. The first mix of the season should be one cup sugar to three cups water. This more concentrated mix helps lure the...
Gee whiz, I thought I was behind the times still having a rotary phone, antennae tv and a true cell phone. Self propelled mowers have been available forever. Welcome to the 21st century you city slicker. :o
If you’re looking for a little more exercise, come over and try that new fangled...
Well some say to change it weekly, but I don’t do it until it starts to show opacity….sign of bacteria having fun in that sugar water…..and yes, it’s just sugar water.
Well this was a bust for me! I haven’t seen a single hummer and any change in the amount of food in the feeders. Has anyone else witnessed hummers yet? I actually have to clean and change my food because it’s gone bad.
I'm assuming you're talking about a gallon or two that you use to mow your lawn. Easy to get rid of....with 3/4 of a tank or so in your car, dump it into your car....gone. With time, gasoline looses light volatiles. It’s a problem with starting small engines…like your mower. By putting...
Where’s Hawkeye….I think he was the most recent clown-papa.
I believe you have to have the baby food ready to go….can’t remember if it was brine shrimp or rotifers. The babies get removed from the parents and are fed the baby food.
Hopefully Hawkeye will see this and chime in.
