Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The simple answer is yes! But you are not showing how you are going to “feed” the refugium. You will need to either pump water from the sump to the fug or allow water from the display to feed the fug. The outflow pipe flow volume (diameter related), must be greater than the inflow volume.
Hey, Im a newbie and ask this question out of ignorance. Why not include actinics? Im currently running actinics (UVLs), and they make things pop. Would this suggested combo of ATIs Blue Plus and Aquablue Special cause the corals to POP? I certainly like the improved PAR!
By the way...
I can only guess that no one has tried or uses a Glass-Holes overflow. Well, I’ve just ordered the 1500 gph overflow for the 87 gallon build that I’m about to start. I guess I’ll include my experiences in the Tale of The Tank thread that will be eventually started. I’m impressed by the attitude...
Getting ready to start the next build - 87 gallon custom tank, 5 feet long. It is not reef-ready so the first thing we are going to do is drill and install an overflow. I’ve been looking at Glass-Holes overflow. Does anyone have experience with these overflows? They are very reasonable. However...
Jabis, not knowing what system you have, I’ll make some assumptions. A tank with live rock and reduced feeding (stop or reducing the feeding of fish), can go quite some time without the sump. If this is the case, do your thing…reset the baffles…and get-r-done!
Some of the minerals included in your salt are slow dissolvers. The powerhead provides the circulation to assist in dissolving these minerals. You can also throw in a heater so that the water is at the proper temp when you add it to your tank, as well as when you test it, since temp affects the...
Welcome Chuck. A FOWLR that has been running for three years…and you just picked it up. So it is a “moved” tank….but new for you.
What is your water source? Tap or RO or RODI?
I can only guess that you have either hair algae or cyan bacteria. I’m an expert on both…getting them, that is. My...
Steve….top notch…thanks so much for opening up your home. I’m sure your wife didn’t even notice there were more than 25 people otherwise I think this might cost you a little bling-bling.
Great meeting and, as others have stated, the tanks looked fantastic…packed with great looking stuff...
Not sure what you mean by “daylight” bulbs, but generally speaking, the lower the K, the faster stuff will grow, including hair algae.
What kind of CUC do you have. I believe Turbos eat hair algae, to an extend.
My daughter got them while at RIT…she’s an artist….so I’m going to say an arts and crafts store. This is the same stuff a lot of political signs are made of. I think it’s called corrugated plastic poster board or sign board.
You’re painting the back-side of polished glass…that is, looking at...
Need more details. What brand? In sump or free standing? When you say overflowing…is that with relatively clean water or is it the wort that is typical to a skimmer?
My guess is that it needs adjustment. Read the instructions that came with it. That will explain the adjustments that can be made...
I’ve done two tanks….both using spray paint.
In one case I painted the glass directly. Very easy to do. Just tape off what you don’t want covered with paint, and spray. Do multiple coats, letting it dry between coats. It really doesn’t matter what brand because the paint isn’t going to be...
Here are pictures of my paint mixers. I’m assuming Jim’s are similar. I wouldn’t be concerned about the use of metal since the exposure time would be minimal. In addition, the two on the right are stainless steel while the one on the left is ferrous metal covered with a Teflon type coating...
Well Rafal, I too am relatively new as well. Im not sure what real beer drinkers drink, but I will tell you from my observations that real NJReefers drink Yuengling Lager (with the exception of the photo people who drink some other bottled concoction.)
Whoever gets this thing has to have a meeting at their house where they are serving custom sub sandwiches. That would be great. Ill have provolone, ham and salami with everything on it, including hot peppers.
The more I think of this, the club should buy this and it should got to whomever is...
You need to bring a frag for everyone at the meeting as well as six cases of Yuengling Lager.
Only kidding….except for the Yuengling…you can drop that off at my house.
Actually bring yourself (and some food or drink item), and however many bucks you want to spend on buying tickets for the raffle.
Install a durso standpipe in your overflow. Here’s a link for a conventional durso:
http://www.dursostandpipes.com/?page_id=58
Easy to built with a couple fittings from Home Depot.
If you are limited with space, you can modify the top and put in another type of durso (that I can’t find the...
But Mike, you just said it in the above post if I stay a newbie, I still win. So, Im still a newbie just like Im still 18 years old its just this damn body that is aging.
And Mike, you have to admit, I still don't know what I'm talking about.
