I guess pre treatment in the sense of, more of a medicated bath to hopefully kill anything in the early stages the fish might have. I've used it on dirty petco fish and knock on wood never had a intank breakout of disease

For new fish I've had great success with this.

I think you'd be fine,absolutely Fish always has them in with triggers and other messy fish to clean up.

You have to get that metal hose clamp out,as it rusts it will mess up your water. I used a big zip tie and vise grips to hold my tube to the pump. *** pulled zip tie super tight with vise grips,it's not in the water* Nothing ghetto about your fuge
