I posted this Pic in another thread but this thread is more appropriate and a good one! ... Anyway I bought this 1996 Jaguar XJS 2+2 seat convertible 4.0l Limited Edition Celebration model about 2 months back( last year made and most reliable and all electrical bugs worked out I may add...We all know Jags at one point had a bad rep due to the Lucas electronics but Ford fixed that after acquiring Jag in 89...took them a few years to fix but the bad rep carried on for some time after the fix :(...The jag forums even have a Lucas joke thread...lol ...A Collection of Lucas Jokes - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum)...The Limited Edition Celebration model ...
("These special models could be recognized externally by their chromed side view mirrors and headlight border strip. Other features were the all-over wheel rims, steering wheel with wood sections top and bottom separated by leather on the sides and air bag, the wooden selector lever for the automatic transmission, the black hand brake lever with full leather cover, a Jaguar "leaper" embossed into the leather centered in the upper part of the seat backs, and contrasting piping around the seats and boot cover. The very last series of the “XJS Celebration” had been fitted with an aluminum engine block and the XK8-transmission." )
.... Anyway the car has only 75,000 miles and was Garaged kept and was a steal to buy!!...The guy had a bad back and couldn't get in or out of the car anymore due to it being so low to the ground ( ground clearance is 4.7 inches).... I just got it for fun and to have something from my Homeland with a bit of class :snob:...lol ...A bit of a head turner and conversation piece... you don't see many or if any on the roads as many owners buy them and keep them in storage or part of a collection :)... Ive really Just been driving my work truck for years and getting tired of it I did own a 1946 BSA xm20 motorcycle but you can only get 2 on a bike unless I got a 1940's sidecar for the baby at the time and the wife wasn't having that...lol...(Link to pic of bike if interested :) https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1c/df/0d/1cdf0d34d0883ffe6c5f356419752ba8---nice.jpg ) ...The wife has her SUV but I only drive that now and then for the most part when she is parked behind me and I'm to lazy to be swapping cars around in the driveway just to go to 711 or if we are all going out somewhere...Anyway been looking for a few years now for the right one and within my budget (I really lucked out :) )... I wanted to get the Inline 6 4.0l 237 hp instead of the v12 6.0l 313hp because... 1... The Inline 6 Is more reliable then the v12 (engine wise plus more engine space...easier to get to things if needed)...2...Less gas consumption ... 3... Top speed ( that I really didn't care about) the top speed on the .4.0 is 147mph only 15 mph slower then the v12 (No brainier unless you just want that v12 sound or just a bigger engine:rolleyes: and care about going 15mph faster then the inline 6 with more gas consumption and was more prone to engine problems then the inline 6 :/..The jag v12 is a great engine and some say one of the best v12's made but most of the Jag nuts say the Inline 6 was more reliable out of the two... It's a "Luxury vehicle"... you shouldn't have to worry about stuff like a sticky valve and whatnot's )... Anyway 3 more years and I can get Historical tags for it , get lower insurance and start taking it to classic car shows :D
Add edit:...I forgot to add this car is long compared to cars now... 16ft

I haven't taken a vid yet but here's one that's exactly the same as mine (Celebration model) apart from no rear spoiler and this one has spoke wire wheels ( Dealer options)...I wished I had the wheels on this one...maybe one day :)

Just a few Famous Jaguar XJS Owners ( they missed a lot of other people from what I can tell in the comments and the Jaguar XJS forums... Just to name a few more famous that are not in the Vid...Some you may not know in the vid as they are UK celebrities or UK TV shows that never made it to the US ... Dusty Hill of ZZ Top and Joan Jett, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Patrick Stewart, Anna Nicole Smith, Jerry Hall , Justin Bieber :rolleyes3: some racing drivers and a number of Playboy Playmates by the looks of it...to many to list and I don't want the kids looking them up...lol ...I guess the playmates like their Tops down too

Also have totally most boring car ever sitting in the garage that doesn't move because I can't put a baby seat in it :(

The baby seat struggle is real!! I still have to try and fit it in the back seat of my supra.

Had a manager that used to put a car seat in the passenger seat of a Vipier and just pull the fuse for the airbag.

I have been putting way to much money into the car thing...track time is way too expensive but the fun cannot be beat.

Isn't that.... illegal (and mega unsafe) unless the child is a certain age/weight?!

It actually isn't. As long as the seat is installed the way it would be in the rear seat and the airbag is turned off then it is legal.

The safety thing I guess depends on how each person feels lol.

My son and I both are. He started with an RS Camaro and now has an SS he’s building into a ZL1 clone. Last year we did a little gtg in my backyard. Viper is mine.
