As most know I’ve been dosing vibrant To get rid of bubble algae and some hair algae,
I know it’s kind of counterproductive but I also just installed a new algae scrubber that I built. it’s really not being used at the moment because the vibrant is killing algae but it’s online. it’s a simple design comes off my BRS reactor With just a simple hose to the bottom fills up and just spills back into the sump through gravity

Rob is the whole screen submerged?

Yea on this design it is. I know the commercial ones run down the screen then pour out but I had no height under the stand to do that so I went fully submerged. If algae will grow in a refugium why not on my screen fully submerged. I can build them either way so when I have the room maybe I’ll build it like the commercial one but for now I’m gonna give this a go. It has algae on it even though I’m running vibrant so I have high hopes

It’ll definitely grow, and there is a commercial unit with a fully submerged design using bubbles to create flow up.

I can’t wait till that bad boy is producing after your vibrant exercise, I’m really interested in how it grows compared to a waterfall design. This looks like it’ll have much more flow than the one commercial bubble units and I bet it’ll grow great.

Got a couple exciting new additions to the tank this week, along with the purple tang who just came out of quarantine I added a hell fire torch, red gonopora, Bahamas mama mili, and a confetti acro. Acro and milli are chillin on the sand for a week but the others are places at least for now.
They still are in a little shock but I’m sure they will get better
