Hi!

My name is Jen. I’m New to the group and hoping I’m posting correctly! I was at Reefing USA this past weekend. I’m back in the hobby after more than 10 years out and don’t know how I was out so long! I had a 72 gallon FOWLR tank for almost 10 years and a 30 gallon seahorse tank back in the day.

I have 3 tanks now all about 3-4 months old.
-65 gallon reef tank (80 gallon total system) few fish and CUC. I started with a GSP in Feb (my first coral ever!) and just picked up my first “big girl corals” at Reefing USA still basic beginner stuff but totally new to me.
-45 gallon macroalgae tank with a couple fish and CUC which will be my seahorse tank in the future
-nano 4 gallon with a pistol shrimp and Yasha goby.

While I’m a nerd and love to research I’m looking for folks to help me along in the hobby as I’m still new to reefing specifically and there’s a lot to learn! Also things change a lot in the hobby in 10 years! Any tips on getting up to speed on the site would be appreciated! Already following on FB.

Thanks!
Welcome to the club Jen. Good people here. Small piece of advice keep an eye on the gsp as it can become invasive.

Hey everyone,

Monty here. I've been in the hobby for over 10 yrs now. Started with a 45 breeder FOWLR from petland back in 2015 when I was in NY which then turned into a mixed reef. Had to break it down when i moved to JC in 2020. Set up a 20G Nano reef tank in 2020 but it didn't thrive because life got in the way and I couldn't keep up with maintenance.

Trying to get back in the hobby full time now and got a new 120G SCA tank with all new equipment. Will be setting it up in the next few weeks and documenting on my YouTube. Looking forward to meeting all of you at the next club event/swap.

Some pics would be cool. Do your seahorses ever breed? Any success raising them?

Hi NJRC,

New member as of this week. I'm Ricky, based in Ohio. I run a small copepod and phytoplankton Company anmed CopepodsForSale.com. Mostly here to talk shop on live food, refugium builds, and feeding seahorses, mandarins, and pipefish that's what I keep at home and what I culture for a living.

What I culture: Tisbe, Apocyclops, Acartia, Tigriopus, and Oithona pods plus four phyto strains (Tetraselmis, Iso, Nanno, Pavlova).

Made a permanent member-benefit code for NJRC: NJREEFERS15 = 15% off, no minimum, no expiration. If the BoD or mods would rather I run that through the proper sponsor/vendor channel, point me at it and I'll follow the steps.

Looking forward to learning from this community.

Ricky
